Just purchsed the Omnia, Hello, and questions.

Hello all...

I just came from the HTC Touch to the Omnia. Well... Treo 650 > Treo 700 > i760 > HTC Touch ....
And now the Omnia

I must say I LOVE this phone... I do, of course, have a few questions. I don't mind if you guys don't want to answer, as I will start my research very soon, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

1) How can I get it to wake (screen on) when a TXT comes in?

2) I noticed a few shortcuts like dragging up from the bottom (or is it something else I'm doing?) will bring up Task Switcher and holding the up volume button will zoom you screen, but is there any other cool shortcuts I'm missing?

3) Those games advertised for the iPhone (sorry, I hate it too) that use the accelerometor (or whatever it is); are they available for the Omnia? Such as where you tilt the screen to steer. I did get the Teeter game which is fun.

4) I understand there is no GPS type hack for it yet.. correct? I had the Touch which I was able to unlock and get "free" GPS.

Damnit, I knew I had more questions... Forgot them.

Anyways, if there's anything you guys recommend I do, please suggest. I've already unlocked "Today 2" which is quite amazing.

The accelerometer games I haven't heard anything about...

but if you have a Nosey girlfriend or Wife, you don't want the phone to wake up when u get a text...lol...

I like it the way it is...but most all these questions have been addressed in the threads that are stickied...

There is a version of Asphalt 4 which is compatible with the Omnia and uses the accelerometer to steer. Great game, very addictive. takes some practice to be good with the accelerometer.

Ok, I don't have either at this point in time, therefore would like it to wake. Main reason being when I have my phone at work, I'd like to have it on silent and to turn the screen on when it gets a message.

I understand your plight, but there is no current fix for this. I am not sure if any winmo phone does that, to be honest.

not sure about the text thing...but i kind of remember someone having a fix.

I assume you've already heard that Verizon announced in December they are unlocking the internal GPS "in the first half of 2009". Therefore I don't think anyone is working too hard to hack it.

I've heard rumors of a ROM update "soon" (like within a couple weeks) but no word on if it will contain the unlock or not.

Just to weigh in, I have the same problem with wanting my phone to wake during work when I get texts emails but I've scoured every message board and there doesn't seem to be a fix.

I had the 6700/6800 before the Omnia, they both woke when I get texts..that should save you the trouble of scouring boards for a fix, hopefully someone will come up with soemthing eventually

and is it for the cdma version?
