Either way, advice remains. Have you looked around for any HTC drive installed? What was the effect of reinstalling WMDC? Have you tried other USB ports?
I uninstalled it all and reinstalled it with the Omnia driver and still the same outcome

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

Maybe its a setting in
Start/Settings/Connections/Active sync/

check box for increased network security (something or other like that) uncheck it and try it again. Hope that helps fix the problem.
Cheers

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

I had a similar issue as I was moving from a Palm Treo 700p to the Omnia. I called VerizonWireless and they helped me get it working correctly. Have you tried that?

Well I have tried different USB ports and it only wants to work when it wants to. I tried 6 USB ports and 2 worked for now. Had the same error on 1 of the working ones and replugged it back in and worked so its intermitten but at least I can get my programs now haha

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

To be honest, bluetooth works better anyway, at least in the case of the Omnia. I do all my syncing that way, and dongles are dirt cheap if you dont have bluetooth.
