Angry Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

I just bought a brand new Omnia from Verizon tonight and when I got home to connect it to the PC it says "Device has Malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it"

Has anyone had this problem before and is there a way to fix it?

It wont even charge through USB

I am running Win Vista Ultimate 32bit

Tried that with still no luck. I have even tried switching it to Mass Storage with no luck at all.

This is what I get: THIS IS JUST A GOOGLED IMAGE, I AM RUNNING VISTA NOT XP

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

I already had ActiceSync installed on my PC (XP though) so I never had to deal with syncing. Have you tried using the CD that came with the Onmia? Maybe it will install a driver or something the PC is looking for.

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

I wasn't aware Windows Mobile Device Center ran on XP.

Any ways...thats definitely a driver issue.

Make sure you have uninstalled any previous HTC drivers, if they show up in add/remove programs.

Re: Brand new Omnia will not connect to PC

If I had a dollar for the people i have run across who called their OS Microsoft Windows Office 2007, or Windows 2000 (when it was ME)...you never know with people.

Either way, advice remains. Have you looked around for any HTC drive installed? What was the effect of reinstalling WMDC? Have you tried other USB ports?
