Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
i need a coach. i have a freshly flashed verizon samsung i910. it is making/recieving calls. i have all the correct settings for metro for the sms/mms/ dialing #777 etc... EXCEPT!!! I can NOT get the password "metropcs" to stick when i enter it into the settings. I have a verizon vx6800 "ntc titan/mogul" I had it flashed to metro, and put all the same settings into it, and it's password stayed in place. All is working purrrfect on it. mms/sms/pic&text/calls/gps/instant messaging, etc.. I have been told that on the omni i910, the password has to be edited via computer/usb cable..reg edit.. perhaps. If i knew what/where to edit i feel confident enough to try it. can anyone direct me with good info, as to what software to use, and where in the registry, i need to edit? I have mobile reg editor, and qpst, and active sync installed, as well as tcmdpocketarm total commander for pocket-pc. i really want to get this phone working, someone please come to the rescue. my email is augierockstar@hotmail.com cell# 707-413-8127...augie. and thanks in advance...

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I tried the registry hack for changing the default SMS to VITO's SMSChat. This worked well and I like VITO's SMSChat. However, in SPB whenever I open email it starts the default WM interface, and then when I go back to the SPB screen and open SMS it goes back to WM's default text messaging handler.
I like to use email on my phone, and I don't like the standard WM SMS handler. Does anyone know how to fix this? |

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
Okay. For starters, I am just am Omnia owner. I haven't had it long, but love it so far. I know nothing about roms or cabs and frankly you are speaking greek to me. Apparently you are all extremely knowlegable about the software that makes these things work so here it is. Probably the dumbest question you have seen lately.
How do I upload a rom? Is there something that will fix just my volume issues, both for ringers and for in calls? Please help. |

yknoyus....welcome to the community. Don't feel fad about asking questions, we all started somewhere!!
For flashing a ROM, you can go to the upgrade section of the Omnia forum (on top) and there are a lot of threads to look at different ROMs and instructions on how to use them. You should start here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69628 there is a leaked ROM called cc20 that unlocks the GPS. If you are flashing to get GPS capabilities, you have to do that first. After that any ROM goes. You can get a faster device with more memory with some of the base ROMs, and a WM 6.5 ROM that has some cool tweaks. There is a lot to learn, but (following instructions closely) flashing gets easier!! There are a vouple volume tweaks in the begining of this thread and the problems thread. I remember seeing them, but never needed them myself. I'll add a direct to them if I see it. Feel free too ask anything in here, if you can't find it using search there are more than a few people in here happy to help! |

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
yknoyus, once again, welcome.
flashing is pretty simple but like syrguy1969 said, you need to pay attention to what you're doing or things could go bad quickly. as far as the volume fixes go, i believe that Adrynalyne has solved that problem in his ROMs already so flashing to one of those should fix the issue. good luck to you! |

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I use SplashID which has a desktop component. I have been happy with the mobile product but have not used the PC part. I use a Mac and, while there is a Mac desktop program for SplashID, it does not work the same as the PC version. I have been told that SPB Wallet is good too and believe that it has a desktop piece as well.

They also will bundle eWallet with ListPro and DockWarePro (which I don't use any longer) for $45. eWallet alone is $30. I also like the ListPro program and use it allllllll the time. Hope you find something you like. |

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks
I just got my Omnia i910; moved from a MotoQ. I am used to doing various registry hacks and other customizations. I've done many of the tips I found here. They're great. Thanks for being here!
One big thing that bugs me is in the Inbox list view (Outlook, SMS, etc.) the file size is listed in the right column. It wasn't there on my Q, or even on my interim WM6 HTC. The information isn't useful to me, and it really crowds the top line of the header (in some cases I can only see the first few letters of the sender's name). I have already reduced the system font size, which helped. But, I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to simply eliminate the column altogether? Registry key addition or change? HTML or CSS template? I'll feel like an idiot if it's just a check box somewhere that I haven't been able to find. Thanks in advance. I'd love to see a nice, finger-friendly alternative for WM6.1 Outlook (which I use for my Exchange Server with ActiveSync)--something like Vito's SMS-CHAT. But, I've Google'd hard and haven't seen anything like that. Last edited by prnzchrmg; 06-19-2009 at 03:18 PM. |
