I don't have this issue with the touch player...

I knew there had to be something going on with Touch Player (for the life of me I still can't get it to identify anything not on the main device memory...I don't know why), I guess we can add that to the list of things we can hope gets addressed in the update that is supposed to be out soon.

Adrynalyne I guess you are The Chosen One becasue from slow texting ability when you are playing music, to the Touch Player not showing album art, to the Touch Player Messing up your memory status (see sryguy, alan hawk, myself and other) there are just things that are more than head scratchers and minor issues. Some of us don't "create" any issues or ourselves but have them any way. In some, if not all cases, if you don't seek out boards like this you are going to be frustrated with the device. More importantly, you may have to take time out of your day to go replace the device (in some cases more than once).

Well, in the odd times I use Touch Player, its reading music off my SDHC card, so maybe thats why? Also, I use Kinoma Play far more often. I don't text while listening to music, so I can't verify if I have that issue or not.

Touch Player only shows album art if its embedded into the mp3, AFAIK. Or, you could read that as, Touch Player shows all album art if its embedded into the MP3. Also, if your screen shuts off when Touch Player is updating the library, it IMMEDIATELY halts the progress, which would give the impression its not reading music off the SDHC card as mentioned to be a problem by some. Just a theory there.

I am still on my first Omnia, thnakfully. I am not trying to brag, honest. I just don't have all these problems.

Point in case with battery life. I didn't charge my phone for two days. I texted, played a few short games on it, browsed the net, and used it for phonecalls, and even after 48 hours, I still had a 40% charge on the battery. Due to the fact I disabled the battery warning (but it doesnt disable critical levels), I dont get a warning till about 20%.

That isn't to say I have never had problems. I have had my fair share of lockups and sleep problems, but I have always found a way to narrow it down and find the cause, and I stop using that application right then and there.

Heck, I even have to soft reset now and again. I had to soft reset last night due to random errors I was getting with various system files and opening apps. It had something to do with my bluetooth connection to my laptop, or maybe mobiler. Once I shut those down, the problem stopped, but I went ahead and reset, just in case.

Performance wise, I keep a close eye on my ram. I have also mapped ReclaimRam from Memmaid to a key on the phone, so if I do see sluggishness, I hit that, and it reclaims some ram. Keeps my phone running beautifully.

I havent reset my phone in a good 12 hours. Note my free ram. No memory leaks, as you can see. Very stable.

I'll also post what apps I have installed, that seem to work mostly perfect for me. Kinoma has an occasional glitch.

Hacks I have done:

Turned off keyboard autopopup.
Enabled battery warning notification settings.
Enhanced audio settings.
Increased scrollbar width.
Enabled Samsung Today 2.
GPRS tweak.
Disabled Samsung Dialer (using idialer instead).
Scroll sensitivity.

For giggles I sent three text messages today while listening to music. No lag whatsoever, with the exception of RotationService being just slightly slower than usual. Once it rotated however, its like i wasnt listening to music. I also have an mp3 text ringtone and when I received a text it played both that and the music stream without any hiccup.

Re: Memory Issues

I was also successfully able to resolve the conflicts between touch player and kinoma with S2U2 by adding exceptions to those two apps in the registry.

If I am listening to music on WMP texting becomes a real drag - literally.
I wish that the Omnia keyboard had the responsiveness of the LG Dare. That thing is a breeze. (My niece has one). It is getting to the point where I just pause the songs while I text. It sucks.

Re: Memory Issues

Do you have much running at the time? It sounds like you have not so much a problem of trying to text while listening to music, but more of a 'too many apps open at the same time' type of problem. Do you use a task manager and clean up all the running apps occasionally? Also cleaning out cache files (Opera especially) will help...my Opera cache file got directed back to main memory (Another issue I need to look into) somehow, and after only about ten minutes on-line my keyboard became so sluggish I thought my Omnia was going to crash (in the 'I'm broke for good' sense, not just a reset type)!!

Re: Memory Issues

Very good point. I didn't think about that. The only things I leavwe running in the background is launcher.exe (the Samsung Main Menu) because its such a frigging pain to quit/shutdown, even with wkTask.

Have you checked your available ram when you see this sluggishness?

IME, the Omnia keyboard lags only in the same places the Dare keyboard did---when browsing the internet. I have both phones here, so I tend to be able to draw comparisons fairly easily.
