SMS Keyboard Inaccurate

Hi all. Just got my omnia today. I should start by saying that am a wiz at using on screen keyboards. my favorite being TouchPal. Anyway, on the omnia while in an sms any keyboard is extremely inaccurate. It seems like it completely ignores every other key press. Whats odd is its ONLY in the sms app. Emails are fine, notepad is fine, nothing else is having this same issue, just SMS.

Anyone else had this problem?
