Cool...I want to get everything in one place to help all new Omnia users, and your link looks pretty informative!!

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
I am looking for solution:
1. Incoming call alert is quieter in the first few seconds and then it turns to the normal volume. Is there any solution to start to ring with normal volume? 2. Is there any way to disable screen lock during the call (I have to push action pad" if I want to push some buttons on screen and after few seconds it locks the screen again) Thanks in advance Frank |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
1. No.
2. You can patch the dialer, but not recomended on the VZW Omnia. Or disable the Samsung Dialer and use the default Windows one. |

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
First of all: Welcome to the community!!!! (just wish it were in better circumstances)
Have you tries a soft reset yet? If you can't get to the menu just press the stylus into the hole near the power button. If you have tried that, my next best suggestion is to do a hard reset. Even if you don't have a backup it may be your only choice. If you don't know how, just let us know. There is the software way, but if you can't get to it there is a 'hardware' way also!! |

Home screen -> Main Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Security tab -> Emergency Call button -> if you have any numbers programmed here: delete them. I noticed serendipitously that the stupid "emergency only calls" alert comes on whenever I called one of the numbers I had programmed here (my wife!). Problem disappeared when I deleted the three numbers I had entered. Thereafter, I cannot seem to be able to get that warning to come on. Hope this works. BTW, called Verizon tech service the same night I found this thread: they are clueless but at least didn't try to snow or b.s. me. Hope this helps |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Great! I happened to have a number listed in there, took it out and haven't had a problem since. Thanks a lot!

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Hello Syrguy1969,
Thanks for the welcome, sorry for going so straight to the problem, but I am a bit nervous about this situation. Yes I tried a soft reset. But it still doesn’t work. How do I do a hard reset? (Is it by turning off the phone, starting it again by holding also the call and end call at the same time?? There the phone says format, will this delete all my information?? {Contacts info, messages, etx…}). I don’t want to make a mess; could you give me all this details of what you know?? Thanks on advance |

Second: Using the stylus, press it in the hole next to the power button at top of the Omnia and hold it in, with it still in, press and hold the two softkeys on bottom face of phone (call and end call keys). With these softkeys still being depressed, release the stylus and wait for the black screen, then release the two softkeys. You should get to a screen shortly that says Format or Cancel (something to that effect)... press the left softkey (call/phone key) to Format. Note: you will retain everything on the "My Storage" - It will not be formatted. Third: Once your phone reboots, it should be back to factory (default) settings, you can then run your backup or Activesync to get back all your contacts, msg, events,.... |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Couldn't have said it better lazer9!! I am guessing from the situation though that a backup now (if not done already) is out of the question. I hope sebastoklez did sync with a PC, at least SOME info will be available.
Don't worry about launching into a problem upon joining, that is how most of us found this community, and it is what we are here for!!!! Let us know how the hard reset goes...if it works, I think we have a few suggestions on how to procede from there (getting a good backup app is a biggie!!). If it doesn't work, it may be time to bring manufacturer's waranty or insurance into play (lets hope not though....always easier if you can solve your own problems....trust me). |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Thanks a lot. I know what you are taking about, but of course I didn’t dare to make a mistake. I am going to try that tomorrow. And I will get in touch with you later.
Really thankful |

Ideally, in the future as I once again learned the hard way, do routine backups while the system is up and running correctly and before installing new tweaks or questionable (non-proven) programs, today plugins, and such. This way you can save a lot of time by having your system restore-able to contain your working programs and tweaks that were already working well. In your case sebastoklez, it may very well be a hardware - now warrenty issue though but definitely worth trying a hard reset IMO. It is possible if you did any tweaking prior to your issue or installs that after your incident is when the omnia actually did a reset and applied something corrupt as in how my situation was with a bad registry file previously. |

Is anyone else having a problem with duplicate notifications? I've cleared them several times using memmaid, however they just end up returning: As in an alarm goes off and you either hit dismiss OR another 15 min.s, ect... You have to do it twice. ? |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
HI. New to the forum here. I purchased my Omnia yesterday and the motion sensor, I believe, is not working. The phone stays in portrait mode when I would like to go to landscape. Any ideas on what causes this or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
syrguy, I'll ask you since I think you use spbms and you've already been very helpful.
I have two issues with spbms. The first is minor. Often when I exit or back out of a winmo or samsung part of the phone and go back into spbms I get the samsung keyboard popping up momentarily and try as I might I cannot figure out what's causing this. Secondly, how do I configue the My Menu, Games, and Navigation in spbms as all these are empty for me and I would like to put things in there. I know I'm just missing something and I'm sure I'll feel stupid once someone tells me. |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Hi there,
this is my first post on this forum site, sorry if i sound like an idiot.. i just have a few questions about the samsung omnia i900 im using ifonz, and have s2u2 s2b and a few other things installed i was just wondering if there is any different keypads for writing sms that are free to download? my other question is, is there a vlc media player available for download? also the phone tells me that it can play divx video but will not play it unless i convert it into a smaller frame. if anyone could help it would be appreciated. thankyou |

Don't worry about asking any questions!! As for the keyboard issue....I have that occasionally as well, and I find when I do, if I do a reset it usually disappears (it seems to be brought on by an occasional reset as well). Not sure if any of the keyboard tweaks would work on this, but it never really bothered me enough to look into it further since the reset trick seems to work for me. As for the menus...If you use the Today screen, press + hold on the SPBShell tabs and a mini-menu pops up press Options. On the next screen, along the bottom are tabs...click on the Advanced tab...on that screen click the Menu button. From the actual shell screen (full OS Shell, not the Today screen) go to the Programs page, hit settings and there should be a 'Customize Menu' icon on that page...that leads you to the same page the other method does. On the customize menu page, highlight the menu you want to add to, click Menu on the bottom hit Add, and then link....that will bring a list of installed apps to the screen...highlight the one you want to add to the menu you highlighted on the previous screen and click Done and your good to go!!! If I didn't confuse you too much you should be able to populate all the menus the way you want. If I did confuse you let me know and I will see if I can describe it any better for you!! |

I haven't used divx, but I am sure you will get an answer in here. As for a free keyboard app, PocketCM Keyboard is the only one I can think of off-hand, but I am sure there are others: http://pocketcm.com/index.php As for a video player (I assume that is what you meant with 'vic'? Please let me know if I'm wrong) there are a few. Here is a site with around 4-5 of them. I have heard good things about TCPMP: http://www.downloadatoz.com/media-player-for-pocket-pc/ |

Welcome to the community though, I hope you enjoy it !!! Is reply to your request, I think this should do it for you: How to disable/enable the "Message Sent" notification after SMS sent HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMs g = 1 To enable: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMs g = 0 (default = 1) P.S. Gatorbyte....no sweat!! |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
VITO SMS-Chat is what turned on that notification, btw. It deletes the reg key, which is already set by default.

I jsut sent my mate the same txt 3 times :( I think this problem only happens when I exit back to spb mobiel shell as soon as I hit send, which wasn't a problem before :( Any ideas? I Installed the following after a hard reset. Wk Task SPB Mobile Shell S2U2 Resco Explorer + FTP + Reg Moboila Web Cam Garmin XT Mobile. |

splitsteve....Not sure what could be causing that, but have you thought of using Watcher and keeping Shell running at all times as your OS? Again....I'm not sure what the problem may be, but if you don't have to open Shell again, maybe keeping it open will circumvent the issue? I bet Adrynalyne will have a suggestion for ya!! |

Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
I can suggest two things:
1- If everything works, and it is a WM error screen, you could disable error reporting!! (Not sure how you feel about that one because I remember you have multiple messages going out!) 2- I did a little looking around and found this: Do you have the "When available, use this store card to store attachments" checked under the storage tab? DON'T CHECK IT! and this: this error comes about when we cannot delete the tmail.exe which is used for the SMS integration.Simply go to \WINDOWS in your file explorer. DELETE the tmail.exe. If it won't let you, that means its in use. The OS and FM both use this and in some cases the OS can run it from startup. This is one area we could improve the uninstall and its one we will.So if its in use, two things you can do. One is to soft reset the device and try to delete it manually first and then uninstall. The other is to rename the file and then soft reset (so that its not in use) and then delete the renamed file.Hope that helps. |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Sorry, I must have missed this.
What is the tmail error you are receiving? |
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Is there a way to disable the "charge complete" nitification you get when you phone is done charging? I was charging my phone (turned off) last night on my nightstand and I got woken up at 3am by this annoying sound letting me know know that my charge was complete. I didn't see a setting in the notifications for it.
|
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
I think the only 'fix' for the battery charged alert I have seen is to replace the tone with a silent sound bite!! I will look for the post and direct you to it if needed.
|
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
Does Etiquette mode disable it if the phone is flipped over?
|
Re: Omnia problems and solutions thread!!!
I don't believe so, I think the battery tone over-rides any and all profile settings from what I have heard in the past.
