Ring tone format

I may have answered my own question brainstorming, and it could be just that I'm missing codecs, but here goes.

My omnia is currently running Bgill55/MasterGreeny CF03 6.5.1 Build 23081. I had another Bgill on it, but the pointUI drove me nuts after about 10 minutes. Love this one though.

I digress. I am having a problem loading the standard Samsung MP3 rings onto it. They just don't show up in my list. If I convert them to QCP, obviously they work, but the quality is terrible. I'm guessing it's either how the MP3s are encoded, or I'm missing a codec.

Ideas? Is there a "codec pack" for WM?

Re: Ring tone format

I'm downloading the TCPMP & master codec pack now. Again, I might have answered my own question. I'm at work, so I prolly didn't search like I should have.

bonk. I can't even see the MP3s in question inside the ringtones directory, so something's def wrong.

Re: Ring tone format

Unless something is different in the rom you're running . . .

On my Omnia, you just had to put the ringtone files in the root of the directory in order for them to be recognized and available to be used for, duh - I know, ringtones. Whether it was on your "main" storage of the phone, or in the "My Storage", or on a "Storage Card."

The format .mp3 should work.

I'm sorry, I have never flashed my phone with anyone's rom, but I would think that it would still work the same way. Good luck.

Re: Ring tone format

yes its the same way. your best bet is to put them right into My Documents on the phone and not into any folders.
if your low on space, put them right into My Storage. and again, do not put them in any folders
