Omnia uses "battery" power settings when phone is fully charged

Is there a way to fix this? This has always been an issue with the Omnia, no matter which ROM or OS. If it's charging, then it uses the "external power" power setting, but once it hits 100%, the charging icon changes to a full battery icon, and the phone switches to using the "battery power" power setting, which makes the screen shut off after 1 minute (by default). In the past I've just made the phone not go into standby on it's own in battery power, but it's annoying, and will kill my battery if I miss a call or something happens late at night. Any fix for this? It's very annoying when it causes Kinoma Play to stutter and whatnot.
