Cheek Hangs Up All the time

My friend bought a Sprint Samsung Moment. She keeps hanging up on people when she is on the phone with them. Her cheek is bumping the End Call / Hang Up option on the screen.

I thought the Moment was supposed to have a proximity sensor that shuts off the screen when you are on the phone.

Is this not the case?

Is there anything you Moment users out there can point out for her to try to make sure that her screen gets disabled when she is on the phone? Maybe there is a setting somewhere?

If not, then is there an Android app that can be used to lock the phone when she is on a call? She's tried going to the home screen while on a call and her cheek still jacks with the home screen a lot when she is on the phone.

Are you sure she isn't hitting the hardware key? I haven't heard anybody having this issue before. the proximity sensor is those two little buttons near the sprint logo at the top.

Re: Cheek Hangs Up All the time

Yes I am sure. She says that the screen stays on when she has it up to her face.

The Proximity / Light Sensor is not working properly.

Notice how I said that she tried putting the phone on the homescreen when she is on the phone and her home screen gets all messed up when she is on the phone.... that would also indicate that her screen is staying on/active while on a call.

Re: Cheek Hangs Up All the time

I've had my cheek hit mute on me a couple times. The sensor seems to be functional on my phone (checked it with tricorder app). Perhaps a bug in software. Most of the time I notice the screen is shut off when I put the phone to my ear, so i'm not sure the problem.

Re: Cheek Hangs Up All the time

Thanks. It is looking more like a defective phone than anything else at this point then. I'm glad it is working well for others. I was hoping there would have been an easy fix or an app that could help, but it seems like a warranty or 30-day swap is in order.
