black screen when getting a call

Since iv got this phone i noticed when my ringer goes off for a call the screen stays black sometimes for a sec or 2 and other times alot longer before it displays my caller. This was out of box and since then i have changed the kernal and it still does this anyone else have this issue or could it just be my phone?
