Opera Mobile 10 Beta FTW!
Yes, it works on the Intrepid and it is a new ball game. Wow, download it NOW.
http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/ I've been testing it for half an hour and I love it. I don't see flash support (at all), but for the most part I can live without that. I am very happy with it so far, I think they've done a great job. Taking a little time to get used to single-tap zoom rather than double-tap, though. |

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta FTW!
Installed and tried the new Opera Mobile 10 beta on my intrepid, and would like it had I not used Opera Mini 4.2 / 5.0...
The Mobile 10 interface is nice but the Opera Minis are WAY faster for everyday surfing, since they do server side processing. Mobile 10 will be way more practical on larger screen phones like the tp2 with more processor power, our intrepids are a bit sluggish Last edited by ramz858; 11-24-2009 at 01:15 AM. |

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta FTW!
I've had the intrepid for about a week and I'm impressed by both the browser and the device. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to duplicate the browsing experience that I had with my 800w and opera 8.65. This new beta is surprisingly good at rendering pages imho. This browser coupled with this device renders stock charts and graphs amazingly well even for my old man eyes. It is a pleasure to be able to browse and read at length with relative comfort. I also have an iphone and while not on a level playing field for the browsing comparison, the intrepid is very impressive and for one handed operation, way superior.
I was tentative with the device for the first couple of days, but after installing 10b2 and applying the Haus and others tweaks, this thing looks like a keeper. Thanks to Haus and to others in the community for the time that they have spent developing and posting this information. |

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta FTW!
Is there any way to make opera the default browser over IE? I would like opera to launch when I click on urls. I am currently using opera mini 4.2, is there any difference between the versions?

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta FTW!
Opera Mobile 10 beta is my current default. I think it did that when I installed it (poutlook links open in Opera). There is a way to set a specific browser as the default but it's not consistent - I think for Opera you go into about:config, and I'm not sure about IE (regedit?)...I've read it elsewhere on these forums, so try a search across all device forums.
Not sure about making Opera mini the default. Since the mini series browsers user Opera's servers as a proxy for every web request, I don't use those browsers (don't feel like giving Opera access to everything I browse, LOL). Sounds like I need to grab 10b2, I'm still on the first beta. |
