Intrepid and Bluetooth Keyboards
Just wanted to share my experience and maybe see if anyone else has any suggestions.
When shopping for new phones to replace my Sprint Mogul, one thing I was looking for was Bluetooth keyboard support. I had gotten used to using a keyboard from time to time when I really needed to get some work done on my phone. I noticed the Intrepid did not support the HID bluetooth profile according to various sources, but I decided to see for myself, so I took my iGo Stowaway keyboard into my nearest Sprint store and found that it paired and it worked perfectly. So I bought an Intrepid.
Later, I tried pairing other keyboards... Apple, Microsoft, Logitech, and they all start to pair, but end in a failure message.
Fine. I have at least one keyboard that works. I am aware that some portable keyboards use additional bluetooth profiles, such as SPP to connect. The iGo documentation claims this model only supports HID. I'm a bit confused why it works in that case.
My guess is that the iGo keyboard has some undocumented bluetooth profiles that make this thing work. ( it is BlackBerry compatible after all .) Bear in mind that this is all being done without installing any drivers on the phone to get a connection working. I had thought about buying BlueInput to get my other keyboards working, but my experience is that apps like tend to make my WM phone less reliable.
I guess the moral of this story is that keyboards on the Intrepid are not totally out of the question. The iGo Stowaway definitely works, (though you can't find them that easily anymore). I'd be interested if anyone else has tried any of the other portable keyboards (freedom, etc.) that are available with any success.
