My Fix: Go to settings, personal, phone, then click on the NETWORK tab and under "Mode of Operation" choose "CDMA ONLY". (Obviously, if you are on a GSM network, be sure to choose "GSM ONLY")

Ever since I made this change my phone has retrieved data without any issues whatsoever - no more soft resets!
Well, 5 days following my changing the setting to "CDMA ONLY", I have had mixed results. For the most part the data stays connected without a problem. I have had to soft-reset the phone a couple of times but discovered that, upon reset, the setting always reverts back to "GLOBAL".

So, remember following a reset to switch back to "CDMA ONLY" ASAP. Armed with this new info, I will report back after a few more days to relay my experience.

Re: Anyone try the new firmware for Intrepid posted on sprint.com

I applied the update and switched to cdma settings. Have not had any disconnect issues for the last 3 days. I do however have microsoft exchange mail on push (checking constantly). The phone feels faster, but then again, it doesn't have all the apps installed it had before, but that shouldnt matter if they arent running.

Re: Anyone try the new firmware for Intrepid posted on sprint.com

I have gone through 2 intrepids with the data disconnect. On the third now. Sprint tech said to delete the data connection and create a new #777 connection and call it whatever.

So far after several days I have not had the disconnect issue.

The change to CDMA didn't fix anything. I am still resetting constantly.

Per highstrings post, I have added a new Connection using the #777 and will see how that develops.

See no advanatge to this. I stick with what I have - for the most part, it is working fine.

Re: Anyone try the new firmware for Intrepid posted on sprint.com

I upgraded today, I had made such a mess of the registry and the texting issues were driving me nuts. Does anyone know how to make the "menu" options larger? They are much smaller and more 6.1-like than they were before the upgrade, not as finger friendly.

Hm..I don't know why everyone is having problems. I upgraded to the new update and everything works flawlessly. A lot of you are having issues with the data connection not connecting where I'm having a little knick in the ribs because my data connection is always connecting itself automatically..and with full blown speed.

I did notice some changes like most of you said already:
the slide lock
the start menu
email setting updates
titan missing
phone runs a little quirkier

My biggest issue is that ever since I upgraded, I have been having MAJOR lagging in my text messaging as I am typing out my message to someone's reply. It would stop, pause, break, and repeat, sometimes even putting weird accent marks as Im typing. I shut off autocomplete and still not helping..I cleaned up my phone's interals a bit creating more space, but still no success.
I'm a very fast texter, definately am, but I'd slow down for this phone to process what I press but it still lags.

Other than that it's not too bad of an upgrade. I am having problems with Bing not installing on my phone through the marketplace because as it's installing it'll give me an error message saying the installation could not complete because the phone's resolution is too low.
Also with Skyfire, won't load up after installation and reinstallation 20x because of an error message saying there's a strong demand on their servers, try again later. Its been like this for about 1 month now.

Re: Anyone try the new firmware for Intrepid posted on sprint.com

The Skyfire issue is a general WM issue, since they started selling on the Iphone store they have cut off access to WM users. It has nothing to do with the upgrade. I switched over to Opera Mobile.

I am definitely having data connection issues several times per day. very irritating.
