gps only works on a 3.5 rom or higher

Well it seems like Sammy isn't releasing an update for this guy... anyone have any progress with upgrading the ROM on this phone?

OK, newbie to this forum, and my device.

Questions:

1. How do I confirm m ROM level other than Settings/System/About?

2. Are there apps out there I can use for this unit?
