app to see when text was received or read for the epic/android phones???

just saw that blackberry has this via the bb messenger and it got me to thinking...is it possible to determine when the person u r texting receives/opens the texts that u send them....what do u guys think???

I am new android world, but what heard and plan on using is pmessenger.
Its an app for android, iphone, blackberry

this is a terrible idea.
just turn on the most annoying feature "message receipt"
