Frankly I'm more interested in that stock upgrade ROM as something I can flash back onto my device if needed for warranty.

Re: WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available
I, like most of us, are interested in seeing the official Sprint WM6.5 ROM. Then again, I, like most of us, have ran WM6.5 on our TouchPros.
With the HSPL it wouldn't really matter anyway, since we'll be caught up with our flashing addiction anyway. The point has been and always will be how OUR respective carriers SUCK...and that we can only do so much up to a point. We still have to pay for service, and we still have to pay for the devices. Most of us are on contract, and will continue to be.

Re: WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available
I'm really interested in what Ballmer thinks about the lack of update availability of promised 6.5 ROM updates on his globally-coordinated rollout on Oct. 6th. Especially from Sprint, who said they would have a 6.5 phone on launch day. This doesn't mean announcing a phone today and having it available on the 11th.
Especially because it means no customers for its store, which it also launched today. I also wonder how many chairs he's thrown today. |

Re: WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available
Just because the TP2 didn't get a ROM update today doesn't mean no phones have been released today with 6.5. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere some other models released today with 6.5 to buy.

Re: WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available
The fact that other phones have been released with 6.5 today makes it 10 times worse that sprint, verizon, and t-mobile didn't offer the upgrade. It shows that the necessary tools were there to offer the upgrade and they just weren't interested enough to get the update out to there customers. This really pisses me off. I wish sprint had the Imagio or honestly at this point they could of kept the damn TP2 and just released it with 6.5. I'm starting to feel like out of all the carriers only AT&T got it right. Not only do they have the TD2 and the TP2, they both released with 6.5

Re: WM 6.5 is Official.....Yet not available
Businesses move at their own speed, they have processes and QA to go through. It makes perfect sense to me that Verizon probably planned on releasing the TP2 with 6.5 but due to demand and fear of competition (Tmobile and Sprint getting theirs out first for a long time) they shoved a limited number out with 6.1 to prevent people from jumping ship, and then planned on going back to address it later. Meanwhile other phones that they knew would have less demand they could continue on with their process implementing 6.5 on it and releasing it that way. I have no insight into their operations but it makes sense.
A lot of people are eager enough to jump ship for a phone rather then wait for their own carrier, it's no different than games and movies to an extent. Some games are shoved out early to compete or start making money despite not being done, the launch is a huge part of the success of a product. Last edited by oldpueblo; 10-06-2009 at 02:14 PM. |
