Delay between Animation and "welcomehead.192.png"

In my recent journies of cooking ROMs in the ERVIUS kitchen, I downloaded the HTC "quietly brilliant" animation and welcomehead for VGA devices. The first time you start the device everything works the way it should, then after the first automatic soft reset, the GIF plays, but then Disappears immediately after the last frame, goes to a black screen for about 5-10 seconds, then displays the welcomehead file. Why is this? It looks bad unless they are right together. Is there a tweak of any kind to fix this?
