Building a New Theme

I'm finished with my iPhone theme, it is done and I have nothing else to add to it. I'm done with the iPhone entirely and would like to move on to a new project, but I'm requesting help.

The good news: I haven't started yet, so it could be anything. the sky is the limit here and I am requesting suggestions.

The bad news: I plan to use WA2 and WAD still, so sorry to all those that have problems with that software, but I don't, and it's an easy way to make a great looking and nicely functioning theme that genuinely looks different.

The skinny: I'm posting this now instead of when I finish because I'd like to hear from all of you: what functionality would you like to have quickly in your phone or theme? is it important to monitor battery life, signal strength, memory free, and the like? How about quickly launched apps, which are important, and more important? Could they be grouped together?

I have a very rough sketch of something in my mind, and after suggestions from all of you as far as functionality goes (please, I don't want "Make the theme look like _____", because the skinning part is the least important to me right now, as I'd like to have something that Works first.) I will probably post a sketch or use paint to make a preliminary "this is what i'm going for" thing in just a couple of days. School starts August 15th, and I will have much less free time after that, so I plan to release just before that date.

Now PLEASE: What Features do You need/want in a theme?

Umm wats up...theres this sprint theme dat me and a few ppl want but wit a different look...ya kno da theme on da mogul wit da yellow background instead of a yellow bg..make it black but leave da yellow stripe things

see I would do this myself but I'm new to the ppc game

Correct, I'm not looking for theme suggestions here, just feature or program suggestions.

I quickly did something up in paint, and it is currently what i'm thinking of. could easily be scrapped, and may be because it requires many-a-dock and pages, so it could run slower, which is not my plan. This is what I'm looking to:

I am really trying to do something that is extremely 1-hand friendly. I may also make a new dialer theme, but that would be the last thing I do and could be cut.

What do you think of the functioanlity of my preliminary design? would you change anything? what programs do you use that could fit into those categories? Am I way off on something useful? I'm really looking for a lot of feedback before I begin to try to make this one nice.
