So, you have a WM6.5 ppc. Anyway, the dual sim will confuse taskbar icons.
Here some more taskbar's, so you can try:
|SKIN| m6silver Color & Metal Taskbar Skin |6.5|6.5.x|30/04| METAL Taskbar is OUT - xda-developers
Maybe you can get some that work better.

I must say that I'm pretty sure the English rom have nothing to do with it.

Yes, but the portuguese rom had some errors.

As you can see in the attached file, now all the icons except the networks icons are perfect !
The battery shows 100 when the device had just a few 51%.

Any suggestions?

Not bad.
You better read first post: Speaker and Battery Icon
There you will find some files you must use in order to have 1% increment battery.
