i want to change the icon of the signal(white bar) see the picture in my previous post

I think I have answered this question more than any other. As of now the asnwer is NO it cannot be changed or it has not been found where to be changed is the correct answer. It is probably hidden in one of the dlls on the GSM phones. If I (we) has access to the dlls on the GSM phone we could probably hunt it down but as of now most of us here who are making taskbar's are CDMA and the GSM developers at XDA have not found where it is either. Be patient though I am sure it can be changed just a matter of someone looking in the dlls for them and changing it. The G, H, 3G and E can be changed just not the network signal bars.

Thank you and everyone here for your support, feedback and patients. To those who have been creating along side of me I thank you guys as well for not letting this project die and for being creative and sharing your work as well, HTC and Microsoft have been provided these links to view all of your work in hopes that in future releases of phones and versions of Windows might include some nicer and more appealing icons enhancing the look of the platforms.

Change Start Text

1. Unsign your shellres.dll.0409.mui
2. Open it in Reshack. go to string value 321 and change the name from Start to whatever you want.
3. Save your modified file.

I cant get past step 2!

i go to that string there and theres nothing that i am able to edit but an icon and i want to just change the text i must b missing something. i did find out though that using the mighty rom it is Shellres.192.dll.0409.mui and not shellres.dll.0409.mui

any help will be greatly appreciatied. i started a thread here but unable to get anywhere and it may be because im running Mikes wonderful rom.

THANKS
ORION

Check the FAQ portion on the first post about the shellres.192.dll.0409.mui, the file you want to edit is the shellres.dll.0409.mui this is the one that contains the Text for the Start Menu. In reshack look on the left and you should see the String Value portion, click on that and go to 321

Re: Custom Taskbar

dimdimdim, what phone and resolution are you trying to replace the icons as well?

Fabtan, sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet. I've had several things come up this week. Based on what I saw from your screen shots, I'm leaning towards either a setting in the dll, or something with the background that is causing your problems. Once I get a couple of hours free, I have an idea or two to try. Please bear with me!

Here is the post that has the DLL file for the HTC Start Logo. Sorry, I don't have in cab form. Switching the dll file out with Total Commander is really easy. The process on how to switch out is in the first post of this thread.

Hi everyone,
I have this problem. For the last 6 days, my taskbar icon is behaving strange. The service icons (G, 3G, H and E) change to the default icons by itself, while the phone is ON. The others (battery, speaker, antenna) are OK. I realised this when waking up in the morning, so I guess it changes some time at midnight. When I restart (or reset), the customised icons (in phcanoverbmp) appears again. When I invoke the data connection, the customised icons come back, but changes to default again in the morning. Any idea why this is happening ??
I use this phcanoverbmp modified from Gadgetfreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&postcount=69)

I Take No Credit For This!!!!
Lubbad85 over on XDA came up with this im just adding a few things to it to make it a little simpler for ppl lke me who dont know much lol...

All the files you need are found here---->>>> ORIGINAL THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458903
  1. Install SDcerts.cab. Makes this process easier.
  2. Place RomExtractor.exe on your SD Card.
  3. Run RomExtractor.exe and enter path "\windows\shellres.dll.0409.mui" in the first box.
  4. enter "\storage card\shellres.dll.0409.mui" in the "save to:" box
  5. Transfer shellres.dll.0409.mui from your SD Card to your Desktop using ActiveSync
  6. Unsign the file by draging it over UnSigner.exe
  7. Drag and Drop the file over ResHack.exe and navigate to string table "321"
  8. Click on 1033.
  9. Change The "Start" text to whatever you want.
  10. then make sure to click on 321 to close it again so that a pop up box comes and asks you if you want to "compile" it again. Check YES.
  11. Open MsSigner.exe and navigate to your new file.
  12. resign the file. A txt file will be created and should say: "Warning: This file is signed, but not timestamped. Succeeded."
  13. Turn Off TF3D by going to settings\today unchecking touchflo
  14. Place the new shellres.dll.0409.mui onto your SD Card
  15. Using TotalCommander navigate to your Sd Card and click on Shellres.dll.0409.mui and copy to clipboard.
  16. Navigate to the Windows directory and click on the shellres.dll.0409.mui and click paste here.
  17. Soft-rest. and youre done!!!!

Do you know if the G, 3G, H and E icons have been changed in all of the dlls that they appear in? Shellres.92, shellres.92.dll.mui, HTCLTB.dll, etc? It sounds like to me that on a GSM phone, the actice data connections are covered by the phcanoverbmp.dll, while possilby another dll covers them when the data connection is inactive. (and yes, that is a guess...)
