First time post here... Let me start by saying, nice job man. The amount of work that went into creating this theme is just mesmerizing! I had alotta fun messin with it!
What you just said above though... those are the 2 key ingredients right there that will improve this theme greatly. Dont get me wrong WAD is a great app, but when you throw this many commands and gui into it, it lags like a pig!
Like you said earlier too, I agree, forget the landscape mode. Get the portrait mode running rock solid first and then move on.
