Skinnable GPS Info Program

I searched these forums and couldn't really find anything so I hope this hasn't been posted before. I found a nifty GPS program that supports skinning that I think would look very good when running in the car:

I was hoping someone with more experience then I could create an HTC-ish theme that provides acceleration, deceleration, speed, direction, and trip meter info. I have a program already that I use for mapping and navigation and just thought something like this would be nice to have running when that type of application is not needed. This program looks like it display info in Km/h, but perhaps that is just a setting that can be changed?

Or perhaps there is already something like this out there?
