Ok I still can't rename or replace the file. I can see it on my pc now but can't do anything with it.

ok dl this works the best http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/ install the cab on your phone.... then the the file u want to w/e pic rename it on your pc then i put the file in my doc. on my phone the i use resco to find the file in my doc then you cut it and paste it in your windows folder on your phone then soft rest and u will see it...u dont rename the file in your windows folder u rename the dl pic too the one in your windows folder

Ok, here's what you need to do.
You download the splash screen you want to you PC. You rename that file to "welcomehead.96.png"

You then connect your PPC Phone to your PC via active sync. You then copy the file you downloaded to "My Documents" on your phone.

You then use Resco File Explorer to navigate to the file you had just put on your phone.

You copy or cut. You then navigate to the /windows directory on your phone, and do a paste.

You will get a message to confirm you want to replace "welcomehead.96.png" you click on ok.

Soft reset the phone and see the new splash screen.

yea I am gonna start making alot of them and take requests. I am even going to start making .cab installer for them (that way they newer noobs don't have to mess with anything they aren't sure about, just install the .cab) :headbang:

Good news folks, I am able to create .cab installs for the splash screens :)
And when you uninstall it, even if you have a different one loaded it will revert back to the orignal splash screen.

I am going to create .cab installs for my splash screens and have them available to you all.

**NOTE** these installs are for the Touch, I cannot garentee they will work on other devices. If you have a different device and know which file is the splash screen, if it's different let me know and I will create the .cab installs for those devices if desired. **END NOTE**

Ok, the .cab installers can be grabbed from here: http://comics.erichss.com/PPC/Splash...%20Installers/

You can either DL them to you PC and then move it to you PPC and run it, or go to that link directly from you PPC to download it.
I will keep working on creating the installer, but the Soul Calibur chars; there are many.....

yea, I know alot of people don't use Resco Explorer and you can't replace the file with regular file explorer. Anything to make things easier for people.

I dug out a graphic editing program I have had for a bit, just never really used and created this .gif really fast before I have to take off for work.....
I will deffinately be playing around and creating startup animations, and taking custom requests.
Oh, and .cab isntallers can be created for these too :)

WHen making a request for a custom .cab installer for a splash screen and/or startup animation, please identify your PPC model (cause different file names are used).

Also all the current .cab installers are for the HTC Touch, so if there is one out there you want a .cab installer simpley tell me your device and I will create the .cab installer for you.

i have a question...

in the verizon xv6800 there is a "boot up screen"(the one with the radio information, white one, it says verizon) then the .gif animation then splash screen.

my question is what is the file name for that first screen? how do i change it/remove it/disable it?

Just unzip the .zip file and there is the .cab for the splash screen, as soon as you let me know what type of animation I will make the startup animation for you.
Also if it does not work, then you need to look at the phone's register and get me the filenames in the following keys:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SplashScreen
HKLM\Software\HTC\StartUpAnimation

Great work on these CAB files. Any chance of you making some Star Wars splash screens and/or animations? I don't have any specific pictures in mind, but something with Darth Vader would be cool. Thanks ;)

How's this for the animated version? This one for the startup animation screen, if you want it as the splash screen, let me know and I will modify the .cab for it to make it the splash screen instead of the startup animation.

Actually I am in the process of making them. In the S2U2 Customization thread some of us are putting together a COMPLETE Stars Wars theme based on the Clone Wars era of the SW Universe......
I will be making more than just Clone Wars era material also tonight....
