Re: Please help me decide - tp2 or htc hero

I have android running on my Sprint Touch Pro 2. It took a few hours of fooling around but I finally got it. It's not so hard if you know how to program with COBOL.

Re: Please help me decide - tp2 or htc hero

I feel like I've seen the word "frustrating" too many times in reviews of the Hero.

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/...c-hero-review/
"Like I said, HTC’s achievements and innovations aren’t anything to dismiss, they are what to me makes Android usable, but with the current hardware powering the HTC Hero, things become murky and frustrating."

http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/
"What we are saying is that this build is a bit too much for a device like the Hero to handle, and that makes for an uneven, sometimes frustrating experience."

Battery apparently sucks too:
"Add in 3G and some real heavy use and we don’t think you’ll be too pleased with the battery staying power."

My TP2 is good for both performance and battery.

I'm in the same boat, trying to decide between the Hero and TP2. Though, the more I use the TP2 touch keyboard, the more I realize I need a physical keyboard. BTW, Hero has been confirmed to work on SERO by several Sprint reps.

Apparently most of those complaints have been fixed:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/14/h...ce-to-somethi/

Although I don't have one, so I can't comment directly. I was thinking about getting a Hero myself, but in the end the TP2 won out for me because of customization and the fact that Verizon probably won't get an Android phone for a while.

Your using old reviews on a different model from the sprint hero. that is the gsm hero. They look different and the new sprint model has the newest update fixing all the issues you state above. They have the same internals though.

engadget got a lot of boo's when they did there last so called review of the sprint hero. a lot of people are pissed at them for dropping the ball. The sprint version fixed all the issues they had with the gsm model and because they bashed the gsm hero, they just avoided doing a review on the sprint model because they knew it was better.

Link? From what I've read there has been the typical "varied responses" from different people...sure some have said it will work but then others say it will not...that gave me the impression that we won't know until October 11th...

Re: Please help me decide - tp2 or htc hero

I was planning doing the TP2 for a tryout and then jump ship to the hero...

BUT...after a couple of days, I'm staying with my TP2.

WinMo was like a fungus...it grew on me...from the Mogul to Touch Pro to now...

Keyboard...this keyboard of the TP2 is velvety, and just lovely to type on. I have fat enough fingers that I have issues with MOST onscreen softkeyboards (iPod Touch keyboard included)

Accessories...my Mogul chargers and adapters works for the TP2...I didn't have to buy a seperate car charger....since now I have 3 wall chargers...I can have one at the office, one at home and one at the mistresses house (J/K)

Bottomline to whom it may concern...its up to YOUR OWN PERSONAL preference.

To answer your question, I think stay with the TP2. For me it comes down to one thing. Keyboard. Now being the phone junkie that I am, I will be getting the Hero as well, just because of the Android. So I will carry both and have fun with both.

Re: Please help me decide - tp2 or htc hero

TP2 for me. Keyboard & screen resolution are game, set, match for me. Android is nice, and the capacitive touch screen is very cool, but the resolution is nothing compared to the TP2, and in the past, I thought I could own a device without a physical keyboard. I now know that I can't. SIP is not for me, no matter how good it is at recognizing my input.

Give me a device without a hardware keyboard that can send a text from what I'm speaking out loud (and accurately), and I'm sold.
