Keep HTC Pro or get a Treo 800w

Hi there,

I have the option to return my HTC Pro and get a treo 800w. I do alot of email and text messages and may a little jealous of those who have a keyboard in front as oppose to a slide.

Being you guys have a the treo 800w, can you please provide an argument for the 800w or against it compared to the HTC Pro.

Re: Keep HTC Pro or get a Treo 800w

I have the TP and my wife has the 800w. While I like the keyboard being right there when you need it on the 800w, it only takes an extra 2sec to slide the keyboard out. I don't care for the screen on the 800w after getting used to the TP. Both are quite large, but I like the feel of the TP better. It is nice having all the extra buttons on the 800w too though. All in all, Touch Pro FTW.

Re: Keep HTC Pro or get a Treo 800w

There is no comparison between the 2 devices. The 800W - loved the keyboard, though 2 had to be replaced due to defective keyboards. The Touch Pro has lots more memory, the Bluetooth works without a hitch, does not loose connectivity to the network as often and bunches more. Though I do miss the keyboard, I definitely do not miss the 800W.

Sell the TP for $300-$350, and buy a 800w off craigslist for $200-$250!

I don't think its how long it takes to slide the keyboard out that is the issue. For me, its the one handed ease of use of the device that will make the biggest difference. For someone that isn't affected by that I'd recommend the TP simply becauase the keyboard is huge and it has a larger, higher resolution screen.

I wouldn't let BenC's experience steer you away. He seems to have some of the worst experiences with the 800w that I've heard of.

I can't say I would whole heartedly recommend the 800w. If you really want one because of the front facing keyboard I would probably recommend the Moto Q9c. Its an extrememly solid device and really cheap right now. I also don't think I could recommend you wait for the Treo Pro. I love the 800w and its ease of use. I can live with it's quirks, but honestly, I think you should keep the Touch Pro.

Re: Keep HTC Pro or get a Treo 800w

I had 2 800ws. Now I'm on my 2nd Touch Pro. Personally, I'm preferring the Touch Pro. I think regardless of what someone has, unless you're just dreading it, keep it.

But as far as Touch Pro keyboards go, Miketab you may want to take a peek at TouchPal or SPB Keyboard if the built in soft qwerty does not suit you.
