Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
The info about how the iphone became unstable makes sense to me. Now I understand apple's clenching on the apps that can run on this phone.
If this phone is meant for your average user and ease of use, then I can totally see why Apple would want to avoid anything that could lock the phone up. The problem is, some of the coolest apps are the ones that lock it up :/ |

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
CDMA would have to be Verizon, and I doubt they will honor $20 a month contracts. No need for them to do so. The carriers might see that liquidation of Sprint is better than buying and holding ridiculous contracts.

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
only if they wanna see sprints customers go to at&t lol

Na... it's Nextel's fault. Sprint was awesome until they picked up Nextel, then their money went down the crapper. /me raises glass to Sprint - IMO Best service and plans and phones :) |
Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
IDK why sprint pickup a dying company like nextel. nextel drag sprint with them.

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
There is also a referral fee where existing ATT customer and referral both get $25 gift card. It looks like WalMart and Sam's Club will have them after Xmas, and Costco will probably not be far behind. That means discounted phones.

For what it's worth one can tether a ipod touch to a wm phone. A bit expensive and not a single device, but you can get the best of both worlds.

I don't have the insight to help him, but you claim to. I was trying to help by getting you to provide insight on the level you claim to have. But they're right, it's like trying to explain it to someone who misinterpret my every intention and statement. Like borat. Quote:
See, this is a hugely helpful post. This is what I was hoping you could do for the OP. |

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
well i just came from owning an iPhone since almost the beggining, and i got to say, its an amazing phone, but compared to a phone like a Touch Pro, it doesn't last. It has a great touch screen, and can end up being a great device, but out of the box, you have no customization what so ever, and to get an app you usually have to start shelling out cash, that is unless you jailbreak it to allow some of the functions that come out of the box with a phone like the Touch Pro. As for me, i jailbreaked since my day one with the phone and never lived without it. That is because, the only way to get anything remotely decent on the phone was by the jailbreak. And even after Apple released the AppStore, you can get almsot any app, and an even better version of it for free through the jailbreak. But even though you jailbreak it, after a while you'll start to notice that the phone starts to slow down, freeze up, and in a rare occasion completely crash. Most of the time, to bring the phone back to full speed, you restore it, this takes time no matter what, and if your like me, it somewhat longer since i unlock it (im on tmobile for iphone since theres no 3g in my area so att is pointless), have to spend time to do apps, custimize, etc.
Now as for a phone such as the Touch Pro, i must say it has a steeper learning curve. Don't be msitaken, im also a so called "iphone poweruser" since i've done just about everything with it including the full hardware unlock. But the Touch Pro, mostly WinMobil, seems to have a higher learning curve and more advanced for the options that you can do. im currently on my 3rd day with the Pro so im still learning, and personally i like the phone, but now and then i still miss using my iPhone because of just how visually beautiful the OS was. But i like having the extra feeling of safety on my Pro though, since i've had times before when my iPhone would just "die" while im outside, but now with the Touch Pro, i can just hard reset on the go and ill at least be able to use the phone. I also like having the option of just copying my files over like videos and just playing them without the hassle of converting and such. So IMO, the Touch Pro is better if you like to have more freedom, as for the iPhone, even if you do jailbreak it, always expect to run into some problems down the road. Quote:

It was not meant as a demand, it was intended as a suggestion as to how you might better help. Since you have a unique viewpoint, I felt you had a lot more to add aside from just the iPhone side. But you're right, plenty of others came forward with their own posts, so the need was satisfied. |

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
I bought an iphone and then ended up returning it and getting the TP. I really like the iphone and if they enhance the camera, increase storage to 32gb and add real navigation come January I'll be sold again.
I just can't quite justify the extra monthly charges when I can tether my Touch Pro, use Slingbox and Copilot Navigation for about half the price. |
Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
I'll pass on the TP for now. I'm waiting for similar device like the Touch HD. then I'll have this in my hands. LOL Isn't it beautiful? I'm inlove with these 2. I'll have 3some with them. LMAO

I am able to watch tv on Iphone 3g via ORB, but can't change the channel as of right now. I did order a remote that should work so we'll see about that. As far as slingbox on Touch PRO vs ORB on Iphone, slingbox quality is better in my case because; I have Slingbox PRO, which is connected via HD cable to my cable box while Wintv 1950 only offers composite/s-video connection. I do like the fact that Iphone does offer bigger screen, and quality is quite impressive as long as I don't compare screen vs screen. I do love em both. |

the emulation sucked...period summerboard wow omg wummer and winterboard...made me quite bored iphysics...that was nice granted but again most of the applications are niche I'm not a niche user, I am a user that needs things done yesterday and if something doesn't have it, then its gone Iphone didn't have it. And you are stuck even after a jailbreak so yes I know iphone pretty darn well...and jailbreaking nowadays makes absolutely no sense. At all... |
Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
BUT if you go with iPHONE you will have too much time on your hands... everything works so well. I mean you cant even fool around with regedit!

Problem I see with the iphone is the size of it. It you somehow brick it... then you have rights to brag in how you cinderblocked it.

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
This is the deal:
iPhone doesnt have a keyboard.. I don't type that much so it wouldn't bother me. The MAJOR issue is AT&T, way overpriced, only decent reception. If/when iPhone comes to Sprint, I just might get one. |

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
For me, the iPhone is a phone much like the instinct is a phone along with all the flip phones and everything else. get my point? It's a phone granted it does some cooler things that the rest of them but wait, yep.. still ust a phone that does some cool useless things.
The touch pro on the other hand is a device. You can do with it whatever you wish. It doesn't have a big flashy screen or a capacitive touch screen or fancy graphics but from a power users standpoint, it's function over form. That however, is just my $0.02 |
Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
i use my iphone for games...way better than tp. and iphone has a lot of games..plus i use as my ipod to look cool..lol
