Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
well i just came from owning an iPhone since almost the beggining, and i got to say, its an amazing phone, but compared to a phone like a Touch Pro, it doesn't last. It has a great touch screen, and can end up being a great device, but out of the box, you have no customization what so ever, and to get an app you usually have to start shelling out cash, that is unless you jailbreak it to allow some of the functions that come out of the box with a phone like the Touch Pro. As for me, i jailbreaked since my day one with the phone and never lived without it. That is because, the only way to get anything remotely decent on the phone was by the jailbreak. And even after Apple released the AppStore, you can get almsot any app, and an even better version of it for free through the jailbreak. But even though you jailbreak it, after a while you'll start to notice that the phone starts to slow down, freeze up, and in a rare occasion completely crash. Most of the time, to bring the phone back to full speed, you restore it, this takes time no matter what, and if your like me, it somewhat longer since i unlock it (im on tmobile for iphone since theres no 3g in my area so att is pointless), have to spend time to do apps, custimize, etc.
Now as for a phone such as the Touch Pro, i must say it has a steeper learning curve. Don't be msitaken, im also a so called "iphone poweruser" since i've done just about everything with it including the full hardware unlock. But the Touch Pro, mostly WinMobil, seems to have a higher learning curve and more advanced for the options that you can do. im currently on my 3rd day with the Pro so im still learning, and personally i like the phone, but now and then i still miss using my iPhone because of just how visually beautiful the OS was. But i like having the extra feeling of safety on my Pro though, since i've had times before when my iPhone would just "die" while im outside, but now with the Touch Pro, i can just hard reset on the go and ill at least be able to use the phone. I also like having the option of just copying my files over like videos and just playing them without the hassle of converting and such. So IMO, the Touch Pro is better if you like to have more freedom, as for the iPhone, even if you do jailbreak it, always expect to run into some problems down the road. Quote:

It was not meant as a demand, it was intended as a suggestion as to how you might better help. Since you have a unique viewpoint, I felt you had a lot more to add aside from just the iPhone side. But you're right, plenty of others came forward with their own posts, so the need was satisfied. |

Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
I bought an iphone and then ended up returning it and getting the TP. I really like the iphone and if they enhance the camera, increase storage to 32gb and add real navigation come January I'll be sold again.
I just can't quite justify the extra monthly charges when I can tether my Touch Pro, use Slingbox and Copilot Navigation for about half the price. |
Re: Anyone have an iPhone or come from one?
I'll pass on the TP for now. I'm waiting for similar device like the Touch HD. then I'll have this in my hands. LOL Isn't it beautiful? I'm inlove with these 2. I'll have 3some with them. LMAO

I am able to watch tv on Iphone 3g via ORB, but can't change the channel as of right now. I did order a remote that should work so we'll see about that. As far as slingbox on Touch PRO vs ORB on Iphone, slingbox quality is better in my case because; I have Slingbox PRO, which is connected via HD cable to my cable box while Wintv 1950 only offers composite/s-video connection. I do like the fact that Iphone does offer bigger screen, and quality is quite impressive as long as I don't compare screen vs screen. I do love em both. |
