Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

I love the touch. It is a better device in my opinion.

I do miss having a keyboard, but I don't write long emails on my phone, and text messaging is pretty easy with the HTC Touch keyboard. I started using the PCM Keyboard and thought that it was great, but it just isn't as good as the imbedded HTC one.

I also wish that it had Wifi so that i could you the WiFiRouter app. I can tether with BT, but it's not as simple.

GPS would be nice if they ever update the damn thing. I had the moguil for a month and people on this forum kept saying that the touch was going to get the GPS update first so that's what really pushed me towards the Touch. I'm still waiting..... I'm glad I switched though.

(Someone wrote that their Touch had better battery life than their Mogul, simply not the case for me. Battery life sucks.) -Am I missing something here?

Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

my battery is def. better on the touch than it was on the mogul. My mogul couldn't go 18 hours before it would die, my touch gets charged every other night. Its faster, handles video better and doesnt lock up. Plus it sits in my pocket and is hardly noticeable. I really like it.

Surprisingly Easy!

It was easy to get used to the keyboard. The hard part for me was getting used to not having buttons all over the place; I'm still reeling from the loss of the scroll wheel. I also couldn't believe it the first time my battery lasted all day, then kept going all day the next day, so that part is great. The size has also been a little hard to get used to. It's great when it's in your pocket and you don't look like you're "happy to see" someone. But it's a little harder to wield with one hand than the mogul is. Not having flash was also harder to get used to even though the Mogul's flash washes everything out, at least you are able to take photos in low light.

Overall you will miss some things but you will probably get used to everything pretty soon.

Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

for typing... all you need is one thing:

Full screen keyboard.

They have a free one floating around the net and SPB has theirs that they sell.

Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

xt9 is a breath of fresh air. I use it one or two handed and type 10 times faster than i do on the mogul hard keyboard. the only difference is once in a while (more towards the beginning before adding my custom words) youll run into a typo that you have to fix. But xt9 is awesome.

And to those who say with the new mogul rom it is better than the touch, i switched back to my mogul for an entire week right after the new rom came out. The memory SUCKS. it just does no one wants to have to close all there common applications just to take a picture or something else. its just stupid. plus the screen on the touch is much more senstative to the touch of the finger which makes it so much easier to use. I am guessing its because it has that extra passive touch screen layer on it which the mogul does not. oh and I used the keyboard maybe 3 times. the first thing i did was install the htc touch keyboard. I love my mogul and will hang onto it for a little while because i do love it and its hard to let it go but times change, give xt9 on the touch keyboard a chance.

Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

I just got my touch today from insurance swap with a mogul... I am very satisfied w the touch's speed and stability... especially that it comes out of the box more consumer friendly. I like the glass screen on the touch as well.

Glad to hear some of you like the switch.
I carry both, but the lack of buttons was the toughest adjustment. If you have a customizable today launcher that can handle multiple tabs (I use SPB PP)...it certainly makes the switch easier. Finding a good keyboard is also crucial...I use a combination of SPB full screen and TouchPal.

Re: from Mogul to Touch: Hard transition?

Its weird but I guess I am the only one that doesnt like for anything else to finish my sentences or try to figure out what I am saying.

I know what I want and I type it letter for letter just like I do on my computer.

For those reasns I use pocketcm keyboard with an iphone theme that makes the buttons a little bigger. I use it all the time and have no issues, and i text with my gf all the time so its not a low use thing.

I have tried all the other keyboards on my touch and pcm keyboard is always my fav.
