Toss my card into the Droid X hat. The keyboard isn't as good as the Incredible, but aside from that the Droid X wins. And with if you use the swype keyboard it negates that down side. For the guy who said HTC makes great products... Have you ever read these forums before???

HTC likes to release a device, then move on to a new one. Bugs and fixes will be done in the new model... lol Seriously I doubt it's in writing but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the In-house business motto.

When you hold a Droid X in your hand, it just feels solid compared to the Incredible. Now I think the Incredible is a quality device, but poor craftsmanship by HTC shows in the peeling screens of their newest beast the HTC EVO. They also buy a lot of their parts from other phone makers, that's why the Incredible and EVO are on back-order. Their short-sightedness was to rely on a competitor to supply their main phone component. Now you have Evo and Incredible owners that have to wait 4+ weeks for a replacement phone when theirs breaks.

Also consider, the Droid X uses Gorilla Glass just like the Moto Droid. This glass is shatter and scratch resistant, unlike the Incredible. I've had several friends replace their Incredibles due to shattered front glass and camera lens glass from falls off a desk not more than 3ft off the ground on office carpet.

All in all I went with the Droid X because I could get it 1 week faster than my Incredible that I waited a month for on back-order. Now that HTC has announced they will be switching from the Amoled screens, I'm glad I made the switch. Also now that I have held the Droid X in my hands and felt how solid it is there is no regret in my choice.

I'd mull over the fact that the Droid X has HDMI out, and 720p video recording right now. Yes there is rumor the Incredible is getting 720p, but how long do you have to wait if it's true. Finally look at Motorola's track record for sticking to products. I had a Moto Q9c that got regular updates for 2 years. With HTC you get "End of product life cycle" after 1 year tops.

Thanks to CarlaDarla - the discussion belongs here in phone comparisons. The post by eXcali now has me leaning towards the Droid X. I only mentioned that I thought HTC makes the best Windows Mobile phones because of form factor, nice screens, ability to upgrade ROM etc rather than build quality. Plus I'm on Verizon - I can only think of Treo or Samsung as alternative WM phones anyway (not sure why I never considered MotoQ - was it because there was no ROM upgrading?)

I like the idea of the larger screen - I gave up on managing servers remotely with the TP because the Remote Desktop was too small to view. What's funny is one office where I work regularly had one of those lamps with the big magnifying glass and I could use Remote Desktop using that. Reminds me of the computers in the movie Brazil :)

I like the idea of better battery life, more durable screen and better availability. ExCali, you're the first person I've communicated that moved from TP to Droid X, thanks for your input.

One more comment. I'm not sure I will be motivated to do ROM upgrades on an Incredible or Droid X. I don't think they're crippled like the TP was and what would be added by an unofficial ROM? Look forward to any comments on this.

I asked the same question on the TP forum and Carla moved it here. I made a statement on my thread that I'm not sure why I would upgrade the ROM on the INC or X. I did it on the Treo, 6700 and TP because the phone was almost unusable without ROM upgrades. Haven't used an X yet but the INC exceeded my wildest hopes in usability and performance. I do want to be able to get root access but looking for what improvements might be expected with unofficial ROM upgrades.

I made up my mind and ordered the Droid X last week. Now I find out the Fascinate is coming around the time they say they can ship the Droid X. Did a bunch of research this weekend. The pros for the Fascinate are that I can use other ROMs, has smaller but more vibrant screen, theoretically uses 10-15% less battery, 3D performance off the charts. Cons for Fascinate are build quality not as good as Droid X (personal opinion based on using Captivate - can't back that up), smaller screen, less built in app memory and GPS apparently isn't working.
