Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

Yea, you can adapt to the EVO keyboard fairly smoothly (the auto correct used to piss me off sometimes). However, going back to a TP2 keyboard was like night and day. I never realized it, but I missed the TP2 keyboard quite a bit.

We get you. We understand. We understood you the first 4 times you posted in this thread. You didn't like the EVO and love your TP2. Congrats. TP2 is a great phone, probably the best for those with specific needs (Clem touched on a few, although most can be solved with various Android assets). You don't have to keep justifying your decision (maybe its to make yourself feel better about your decision). The EVO is not for everyone, we understand (really, is there ANYTHING that fits everyone?). But for a great majority of people, the EVO is a better choice than the TP2, in so many ways (again, there are specific areas that the TP2, mostly windows related, will be better suited for someone).

Your constant replies and allusion to 'evo fanboys' has me thinking you're actually looking for a fight or someone to dispute you. I won't. I just say congrats on enjoying your TP2 (I enjoyed mine the 9 months i had it and still have it for international travel) but no need to come in every 3 replies saying the same ideas with different wording.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

That wasn't my intent. I was just conversing on topics that were posted. Isn't that point of a forum? Are you going to post the same condescending message for anyone who posts something repeating what was previously said in a thread?

Relax.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I am going to tell you about my story. I had a TP2 for about 6 months or so, flashed every rom there was to flash from ppcgeeks. Got involved with the Android development. Ended up spending more time in Android than in WM. I had an opportunity to upgrade. I couldn't make my mind up whether to jump ship to an Android phone which at that time I would have had to wait on the Evo so I chose to jump ship to the Samsung Moment. I was happy with the phone for a few days until i joined a few communities and started trying out some roms. Many were not much different than the stock one Sprint put out. I also missed hanging out here because the Moment threads are just about dead. This past week a member from another website got into some developer drama with other developers at the website and branched off and is doing his own website now,its turned into a pissing match. I have found that alot of the rom followers are rude as well as the developers. I also quickly learned these so called developers were not exactly developing anything but putting in different apks, changing a theme and calling it their own when someone else actually did the heavy developing and building. I should have just waited for the Evo but I wanted Android right then. I can also tell you that I will not own another Samsung phone so this Epic or whatever they want to call it will be a POS just like the Moment, as well as smaller communities with alot of drama. Samsung's following is a strange crowd. I am now saving up for an Evo and will have to pay full price for one. Live and learn I guess.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

switching from the TP2 to the EVO is like night and day! the qwerty keyboard on the TP2 was nice, but the big screen with the onscreen keyboard is just as good especially with haptic feedback. the biggest issue with the TP2 was the horrible browsing experience. i used everything from stock, skyfire, and opera and they all suck compared to the multitouch features of the EVO. i am so glad i waited until the EVO. in fact, the only regret i have is that i had to give up my SERO500 plan. EVO FTW!

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I was in the EXACT same boat you are in. I told myself I would never get a phone without a keyboard. Do I miss my TP2 keyboard? Yes I do. However the screen is so big on the evo I have really got use to typing and the auto-correction on it works wonders.

The only time I would say when it bothers me is when I am typing a very long text message sometime it can be annoying or playing emulator games which I just don't cause the on screen keyboard for that sucks.

Short messages doesn't bother me one bit and I can still bang out a text very quickly.

If I were you maybe just wait for the epic since that has a real keyboard. I do like the phone being slimmer and not having to worry about sliding it in and out is nice. Overall I am very happy with my decision even giving up sero, I am much happier with the phone.

Everything on the phone is so fast and everything on the TP2 was soooo slowwww. The pro's FAR out way the cons.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

i LOVED my TP2... no question about it and i was also hesitant on moving on to the EVO. Typing on a on-screen keyboard is not a problem at all... as i expected! a great phone overall like the TP2, minus the lagging and a whole bunch of minor issues the TP2 had... i would recommend upgrading or waiting for the Epic 4G...

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I got the EVO today, and it's awesome so far. The keyboard really hasn't been an issue so far.
