I've had my hd2 since new and haven't had those problems. but I know you didn't give it much of a chance because you loathe winmo :).

I actually dont hate winmo I just didnt realize how much I didnt like it until I made the switch. There is just too much "having to settle" with it.. settle for old apps, settle for freezes & sod, settle for having to make reg edits to get basic functionality.. it was cool while it lasted but looking back it was kinda like when you have that honda accord you tolerated because it just worked.. then you got a zr1 corvette.

1- Ability to individually set sounds/vibration for all notifications on the phone.
2- MS Exchange syncing my tasks.

Thats it for now.

I really like the EVO, it is a fantastic phone, and I must say I enjoy using it more than my TP2 (so far). However, this is not due to the OS and more so due to the phone. I had the Moment for a litle while and absolutely hated it, I much rather preferred my TP2 to the Moment.

You can set individual notifications...

Basically.. I changed all of my notification sounds from ringtones to alarm clocks to text messages to twitter notifications..etc. I dont get where folks hear some of this stuff. And it's already a known fact that slingbox has already said their app for android is set to be released this summer and is in testing right now.

Re: EVO not WORTH the switch

I was referring to all the money you made from the slickdeals thread.

Again i will wait till a new phone comes out with a snapdragon in it for win mob.

I even called sprint and told them i want a EVO and that i have this plan 7 phones and pay 140$ per month and i have all the perks.

The only way i can get the EVO would be to open a whole new account.I would have to have 2 accounts cause if i drop 1 line off this plan it saves me nothing since i pay nothing for the extra lines on my account LOL.

So i would have to get the ED450 and then they would still give me the 10/24 it is in my notes. And my corp Discount would bring it down to around 50$ per month.

If it was only like 20$ more per month i would do it but as i stated it is not worth it to me to jump for that much of a change.

if the slingbox on evo is gonna b full screen then its gonna look 100x better than it does on my pro2, the only thing i miss about my pro2 is customizing the taskbar & detailed things like that.

i wonder if winmo is gonna open up there market like android for winmo 7, its seems like thats the only way they'll catch up, its all about apps now.

But there will be a win Mob 1z soon just like after all the other Android releases.

Sprint will wait till the sales start to slow down before they do.Which is smart.

except by the time a snapdragon windows device comes to sprint it will be windows phone 7 which is totally rebuilt so its not going to be the same comparison that we're making now

You might not see another phone with a Snapdragon sporting Windows Mobile because M$ has pumped the break on it......they're not supporting it anymore! Any phone you see should have Windows Phone 7....from what I'v heard those phone can only run off a Snapdragon or a Tegra!

You guys living under a rock or something? Slingbox will be sick! lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq8EA7bNB60

I had a TP2 since the day it was released, as well as a ppc6600, 6700, Touch, and a Diamond. Each jump up from from these devices felt small compared to a TP2 to an EVO. All the specs we see in the EVO is what the TP2 should have been.

Anyone coming to the EVO section trying to defend their TP2 isn't going to get any sympathy here.

WE ARE ALL HAPPY AND PROUD EVO OWNERS and I am sure we will see a lot of TP2 owners jumping ship sooner then later!!!!!!!!!

Re: EVO not WORTH the switch

Question for the EVO guys. I like the evo, but can't upgrade for 2 months, and need to find out.....

I use my TP2 less for games and much, much for business. I need time management type of software. I use pocket informant now. Tasks, calendar, journaling and sync all that with MS Exchange. I also use evernote and actually hand write many notes on my screen.

Any stylus' with "fine print" capability like the stylus on the TP2? I also use MS communicator and RDP. Any compatible programs like that for the evo?

Bigger screen of the evo, faster processor, newer OS and 4G capability someday all sound nice, but I need business class features before I can switch. Unlike the OP, I don't need slingplayer, games, etc. I don't need youtube, I use the webbrowser to view sharepoint and wiki info and that's it. I don't use Sense on my phone as it's a "gimmick" that sucks processor away from the TP2.

Oh, and making actual phone calls (about 3 full hours a day) are kind of important. Size isn't - as I don't carry it around much.

Sad part is, it looks like Android, Iphone, Palm WebOS, Win Phone 7 have all pretty much abandoned the business user and business app capabilities.

So with this phone I am paying $80 a month . So this is actually saving me about $15 a month. Plus I can still tether this phone until someone comes out with a fix for the free wi-fi tethering.

People want to make a big deal about the extra $10 for the EVO plan, well for me saving $15 is a big deal too.

lol i wanna know how to tether right now!!!! how u do it?

Why didnt you just ditch the data card and tether with your TP2?

I don't understand why people have problems...my phone ****ing kicks ass. I will say until you cook your own ROM the tp2 will never be as comparable, but if you decide to be brave and cook your own ROM (without SENSE is a MUST) it is just as good if not better than every other OS.

I've got 30 days, I'll review my bill when it comes out and make the decision to return then.

You should not have to give up your EPRP plan for the phone. I still have my EPRP Family 1600 with the phone. Just paying the $10 data fee

the problem is SM has been in beta testing for months, their CS sucks (always has)

I was thinking of buying an Android phone (I still will eventually when it grows up a little) but like a lot of others I refuse to buy a phone that doesn't support SM.

I signed up for the email notification when the app became available, but that was so long ago I barely even remember doing it..........

I guess the pro to this is, by the time the SM works in Android there will be phones available with 2 gig processors, AMOLED screens & awesome keyboards.......

I have the EVO and I can say it's a big step up from the TP2 and I am one of the few people that is actually paying the same as far as the bill as I was with the TP2 due to the credits I now have on my account. I never had sero so I don't know the price difference

The Android users are the ones who do not understand what you can do and not do with the tp2.

SM is a must and it will be years before they get it on Android. And for the last time i said nothing bad about the EVO other then it is not worth the money to upgrade your plan if you have a great old family plan.

But to attack my typing is so old school all i can say is **** OFF

But Android does not support it yet and that is a must for me.All im saying is it is not worth the switch from a good priced plan.

just curious you say if it had sling box you would be ok with having a evo but clearly here the evo does have the ability to have sling box http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq8EA7bNB60. not trying to come at you in a negative way , trust trying to help you see the beauty that you have with the HTV EVO lol

just my opinion i dont know if anyone else knows but pretty much all the applications i use on my touch pro 2 i have found for the evo in the android market even the ones where you can tether for free and some that i didnt even have for my touch pro 2. everything you have on your touch pro 2 you can find in some way or form in android market even apps for your on screen keyboard and 90 percent are free lol so if you look at it like the At default the android is at par if not a birde compared to the touch pro 2 ( golf term for those who dont know lol)

different storkes for different folks. this stuff is really kinda breaking the community in 2. and ive been as much a part of that as anyone. its worth it for some and not for others. i suggest everyone at least try an android phone. not the tp2 port cuz that isnt good enough to form a real informed decision in my opinion. try one for a week and see which is better for YOU, your tp2s will forgive you i promise.

and sorry to get off topic but you slingbox guys, come on. what televsion show could be that important that you wouldnt even consider another phone because you cant watch tv on it. pick up a book for goodness sakes!!!

Slingbox to MANY like me is real important. When im not home i can watch the baseball game...When i was on vacation i could turn it on and watch my local home weather and tv.Its cause you do not understand the sling...

But it has been the best app for a phone ive had for years now.

You know, it's funny. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to read (unlike my 20 year old son)

I wouldn't be at all surprised if I read more than anyone else on this site.

That being said, I use Slingbox all the time & like it enough that I will definitely hold off buying ANY new phone unless it supports it. I have the TP2 set up so that when I stick it into the dash bracket in my truck, it automatically connects to both my 7" DVD/NAV screen and/or my rear DVD monitor. I watch CNN News every morning on my way to work.

I LOVE being able to watch HBO on demand on a long trip, or I can stick the Disney channel on to keep my 9 year old daughter quiet for hours.

My son & I caught a GreenBay NFL playoff game last year while I drove him 4 hours back to his college.
