I also have Weather Panel updates every hour and I get constant text messages throughout the day. And since now many of the websites that I usually view are blocked at work I use my 800. So by 11:00, about 5 hours off the charger, my batt is pretty low if I don't plug it in.

I prefer it to other WM devices, but it really depends on your needs and expectations.

Battery life is just like every WM device on the market: blah. It'll also depend on what you are running i.e. push email. I get though a day with 70% left easily.
I would have to agree with Mal here. I think the 800w is the best "phone" I've every had. The little tweaks, or features, or extras (or whatever you want to call them) that Palm adds really enhance the usability of the device. In addition to the hardware keys for specific tasks (calendar, email, ect.) I really love the option key.
I've also noticed a big increase in battery life when I switched from Seven Email to a real Exchange server.

Oh, and the battery life...I've never had a Windows Mobile phone that has done much better than my 800w or my 6700. Not even my Centro was much better and my 650 was actually horrible, much worse than my 800w (but that may be a localized case).

Re: Are things really that bad with the 800w?

I have had my 800w since early August and things seem to be getting a lot worse. Battery started bad, got a lot better for a few months, and is dying very fast now (all i have loaded is skyfire and phm registry editor). The phone is also randomly having problems connecting to interent. It seems as though daily I have to perform a soft reset.

I have been a big fan of this phone until the last month. Don't know if I will get another one or wait until something else comes out.

Re: Are things really that bad with the 800w?

the phone having problems connecting to the internet could be your signal strength or a number of other factors. i doubt its hardware related.

thankfully im not to the point of having to soft reset just to get through the day. i find i rarely have to do it to fix something. i used to run a lot of beta software and since i went back to a pretty basic setup its become much more stable.

i would like to get a different phone but dont know what i would get. i like the treo pro but not $500 like it! gotta have the 800w form factor. really excited about nova and the new device. also really like the kogan angora, even with android on it.

People at TreoCentral are tying this to using TreoAlerts and the multi-color LED support.

You wouldn't be happen to be using that are you?
