Dannz is the best to answer that, seeing as he is my guru on registry tweaks (and most everything else for that matter), but if I could venture a guess, since hotmail is linked to MSN servers, I would say it is something beyond the control of the device, unless anyone else can dig up some more info.

Thanks SkipJack, but I'm a very small fish in the pond compared to some of those over at treocentral, and several around here of course. And I'd have to agree with you on this matter too. I highly doubt there's anything that can be done by editing the registry. File size attachment is almost definitely controlled my MSN/hotmail server settings. Sorry we can't help you out tre013.

Hey man, do you know of any tweaks that can fix that lousy speaker. the higher you set the volume the more tinny and muffled the sound gets

Sorry, but no piece of software or amount of hacking is going to fix the speaker. You'd physically have to switch the speaker to a higher quality unit to get better sound.

bro if anyone in the world knows how to increase the volume for text messages it would be great if you could share that info. ive been trying to increase it by playing with the registry editor and have been unsucessful for months now. i can increase just about everything else tho. wtf? please help... thanks

I did a few of the hacks, like the 1600 texting, and the volume. they worked for a few days and now they dont work anymore?? do you have to save it or something???

Increase Max Characters Per Message:

HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\SMS

Find: MaxPartsPerMessage change the Value from 1 to 10.


HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\SMS

Find MaxRecepients change the Value (Default is 10) to whatever you want.

There's not really any "saving" you do when you edit the registry. After you edit something wait about 5 minutes before you do a soft reset. And when you do the soft reset make sure you use an app to do it and not by taking the battery out and putting it back in. Other than that if your registry edits aren't sticking I bet its another piece of software interfering.
