My Own Ringtones?

How come I can't have my own ring tones for stuff such as calendar reminders and email notifications. I can only set if your phone.

Re: My Own Ringtones?

Are you putting the files under My Device>Application Data>Sounds? Thats where I found the alert sounds. I put the ringers I created under My Device>Windows>Rings but I have found that my device picks up some of the mp3s I have in the root of my storage card.

Re: My Own Ringtones?

you can... depending on your rom, make a wav (or on some roms mp3) and put it in my documents (or on some roms anywhere on the sd card) (the parentheses are what usually wont work) then set them the normal way also make sure they are only ~3 seconds long because ppcs wont stop alert ringers

What PPC are you using? I have a treo 800W. I have looked in these directories and I don't see any files whatsoever. In the explorer menu, I have chacked "Show all Files" but I still do not see anything. Are you running some other program to view the directories or have you installed a hack to do this?

Re: My Own Ringtones?

To use a ringer for things like new voice mail notification it will first need to be a wave file. I have attached an example you've got mail .wav file I use. Then it needs to be place in the windows root directory My Device/Windows then it will appear in the sounds and notifications list. Try it with the file I have attached just unzip and copy to windows on your 800w it will then appear in the list of available sounds for things like Voice mail and email notifications. If you make your own don't make them to large it will slow the PPC's reaction time on things like alarms. I hope this helps.
