USB Update Mode

Okay, so I was lookin' into custom ROMs. Wanted to make sure I could safely re-flash the ROM if need be. Someone told me about a bootloader mode, offers USB access without needing a working ROM. I stumbled upon a System Update mode.... By pressing the voice button (Under the vomume buttons) and restarting. It enters this mode. Any info on this?

Interesting find. But you aren't going to be finding any custom ROMs for the 800w for a long time.
