VGA is the screen resolution, not the screen size.

RealVGA is a program designed for VGA devices which sets the display to 96dpi instead of the scaled-up 128dpi and provides the necessary icons and resources to do so; it allows you to actually take full advantage of a VGA (or 320x320) screen.

Fortunately, since RealVGA actually just adjusts the dpi and not the screen resolution, it can be used on the 800w as well.

There's a custom Treo 800w RealVGA cab, a mortscript, and some various registry tweaks and cabs available at treocentral. It works quite well for me, but there are quite a few programs which will not function at 320x320 at 96dpi, so YMMV.

What issues are you having with Opera Mobile? Mine seems to work fine except zooming in sometimes creates a distorted picture until it finishes zooming and renders the page.

As for any programs working faster, I'm afraid that's in your imagination. If anything, it will run slower since it has to render more onto the screen at once.

Re: Real VGA?

well probably the placebo effect, but when i use opera mobile and try to type an address it freaks out with the BSOD

also noticed the system menu and some other icons weren't displaying right or at all

Re: Real VGA?

I don't know what a BSOD is on a smartphone. Do you mean it just freezes? Either way, I haven't read any other reports of that happening. That doesn't have anything to do with RealVGA anyway, since Opera Mobile is exactly the same on 128dpi as 96dpi.

If you're missing icons and whatnot, it's because you installed RealVGA after installing other programs. The instructions specifically warn you not to do that. You need to hard reset before installing RealVGA.

Re: Real VGA?

touche, and yes that was it. i refer to the screen that says "send / dont send" at the bottom, the one that tells you there is an error with a .dll or .exe file and then shuts down the program. ill try a hard reset and retry realVGA unfortunatly today starts another 70 hour workweek so no time.

I installed it after a hard reset and my task manager doesn't have an icon in my settings... lol
