VGA is the screen resolution, not the screen size.
RealVGA is a program designed for VGA devices which sets the display to 96dpi instead of the scaled-up 128dpi and provides the necessary icons and resources to do so; it allows you to actually take full advantage of a VGA (or 320x320) screen.
Fortunately, since RealVGA actually just adjusts the dpi and not the screen resolution, it can be used on the 800w as well.
There's a custom Treo 800w RealVGA cab, a mortscript, and some various registry tweaks and cabs available at treocentral. It works quite well for me, but there are quite a few programs which will not function at 320x320 at 96dpi, so YMMV.
