A couple of Phone Alarm questions

Do the rest of you have trouble sometimes with the SMS Threader and Phone Alarm not recognizing your incoming texts? It doesn't do it all the time. It's more like 50/50.

Also, when I am on a call and I get a text, it no longer gives me a quiet, audible notification. I found the setting in Phone Alarm that removed it, and it only allows you to set it to vibrate. I think that would scare the crap out of me when it goes off. Is there any way to set that back to an audible alarm?

And now one general Treo question. Do any of you have trouble when you are placing calls? Sometimes if I call a contact out of my contacts list (one that I have not called lately and is not on the list that is brought up by pressing the send button), it goes to the Call in progress screen while it says "Dialing". Then, almost everytime, it will hang up and take me back to my today screen. Then if I pick the contact again from the recent call list brought up by pressing the send button, it will go through. It has done this since I got it. Any solutions or is this just a quirk of the Treo or WM5?

Thanks.

what version of PA are you using... i dont really have to many problems with 1.58, i havent upgraded to 1.60 bc when i was beta testing it wasnt working to well with the threaded texting (might be fixed now plan to test this weekend) anyways i notice the only time it wont regconize my text is if the messageapp is running in the background hidden away, if its closed it works everytime.

setting it back just involves using the system settings if your using 1.58 bc PA doesnt know to change the settings from the "New Message: Text Message (palm threading)" it only looks for the standard one. if your using 1.60+ i assume its in the profile setting your using.

finally, this happens to me every now and then havent been able to pin point the cause but its to rare to bother me

I have PA 1.58 as well. And when you say that it only does it when the messageapp is running in the background, do you mean the Messaging application is listed in the Task Manager? I've also noticed that Phone Alarm does recognize most of my texts, but it only blinks for a fraction of a second then it goes away. Any suggestions?

And I'm a little confused about what you said about changing the notification while I'm on the phone. Do you mean I need to set the alarm in my PA profile to <system> on the SMS notification, and then go into my system settings > sounds and notifications and set the palm messaging sound there?

PA 1.58 uses the System Broker for alerts, and the System Broker doesn't work well w/ threaded SMS.

Try upgrading to 1.60 and turn off the System Broker in settings. (1.60 allows this, 1.58 does not.)

well you can try what jonahan says... like i said i tried 1.60 throughout its beta phase and couldnt get it to do what i wanted and ended up back at 1.58 but i stopped about 6 releases short of the final 1.60.2... also i read that PA cant play midis so im staying away bc i love my treo classic mid.

in my sounds and notifications i have New Message: Text Message play sound unchecked so it does nothing...

i have New Message Threaded... set and i think PA ignores that setting bc it doesnt no about it.

messagingapp is the name of the application that is Threaded text. thats the exe that runs when u open the inbox and the one u see in the task man.

as far as the blinking, mine does that too it will blink on then off then on then play the alert, i always know the text is coming if i can see my phone about 4 sec b4 it actually shows up
