Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

You might look over @ xda-developers. There's an excellent WM6.1 ROM available over there for all carriers

Ouch...thank bricked it. I had to reflash back to wm6 trimmed. I used NighRaven's 1.3 release. After inital flash to 6.1 my 700wx froze at the windows mobile 6.1 screen.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

That's not good. Did it truly brick, or did it appear to hang @ the WM 6.1 screen? I ask because the initial loading of WM 6.1 after flashing can take a while.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

It sat over thirty minutes on the wm 6.1 screen after flash. Then I rebooted with same results. I reflashed to wm 6 and it hung again. So I reflashed again with wm 6 and it came back. Everything appear to be working fine now.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Persistence paid off. I did finally get wm6.1 on my 700wx with NightRaven’s rom v1.3. Seem to be faster than my wm6 trimmed rom.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

The only issue I seem to have is that I'm soft resetting a bit more than when I was using the WM6 release from Palm. Otherwise, it's running great.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Couple of questions. Why did you decide to use WM6? What ROM would you recommend?

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

I was having some issues w WM5 regarding my phone notifications. Numerous times I missed calls because my phone wouldnt ring. Got tired of hard resetting, so I went ahead and installed WM6 (the official Palm release for VZW). I've since upgraded to nightraven's 6.1. The thing you're going to find with the 700WX is that there's not a lot of custom ROMs out there for this device, compared to what's available for, say, the Mogul/6800. Check the sticky @ the top of this forum or go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397134 for more custom ROM goodness

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Installed NightRaven's SPNT_REL_1.3_Treo_700wx_WM6.1_5.2.20931_(Build_209 31.1.5.0) Rom. Install was a snap. Finished loading all of my programs I had been using on stock WM5 Rom. All are running fine with no issues. System seems to be just as snappy as previously although the new PIE seems to be a bit slower. With the exact same programs installed with the stock WM5 Rom I had 18.96 MB of Storage memory and 32.63 MB of Program memory free. With the new WM6.1 Rom I have 32.13 MB of Storage and 26.21 MB of Program memory free. Significant difference! Have only been runninging for 36 hours but see no problems so far. Many programs seem to run faster and my phone seems to soft reset significantly faster even compared to the fresh install I did a week ago of WM5 and all programs. Will update if anything new develops.
