Erro when trying to install programs

I've been trying to put opera and the weather panel thing on my 700wx but everytime I click them to install it says "there is no application associated wit _____ run the application first then try opening this file". what do I do??

I'm on the stock WM5 and would rather not bother upgrading to WM6 do I have to =/?

Assuming you have a 700w/wx (since that is the forum

you don't have to 'bother' about WM6 since you can't.

However - you haven't really explained what you are doing. If you have a .cab file for the installer, you have to copy it to your phone, then run the install from there. The .cabs are WM installers. If you have an .exe file, you need Activesync installed on your computer, then you run it from the desktop and connect your phone. It will then install on there.

Another thing to watch for is that your not trying to open a .RAR file that just LOOKS like the CAB.....it gets a little tricky, but there are some apps that come in a .RAR (same type used for CAB files) or a .ZIP that contain the .CAB inside them along with readme's, license info.... I have done that many times, then when I get to my PC and realize my mistake, it is pretty easy to fix....just un-RAR/ZIP the CAB in your PC and copy THAT to your PPC and your good to go!!!

(As jhonny11 mentioned though .EXE files are slightly different, but he covered how to install them pretty well!!)

well I got the Weatherpane to install but I put opera mini on it and it won't install, I have the 'executable Jar' file and the JAD file and both are giving the same error. any ideas?

Opera Mini is a Java based browser, you will need a Java applet in order to run it.

I am not very familiar with Java applets for the 700wx though.

Someone else may want to chime in...

Yeah PIE really really really sucks, I tried running the opera files from my PC still nothing won't run on the phone either. =/ someone please help!

Opera Mobile is good (although 9.5 will be out soonish and should be great) - NOT mini. Picsel browser is good, though I don't love it much. NetFront 3.5 (there's a preview version out) is great, although it expires the end of May. I liked pieplus for a long time personally...

I've tried numerous browsers and I seem to always come back to PIE. Right now I'm running PIE with the MulitiIE plug-in (gives me tabbed browsing, more functions, etc.).

ok I have a problem also.....I tried to dl the iphone.zip and it says "either it is not a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. you might need to reinstall or restore this file". what's that about?
