Sudden email issue

I currently have 3 email accounts associated w/ my Treo: my ISP (RoadRunner aka TimeWarner), GMail, and Hotmail. Just recently, I've experienced an issue sending via the RR account. I can receive just fine but, oddly enough, I will get the "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device, etc" message when attempting to SEND. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the account, however, the old RR account reappears on the Treo. Of note is the fact that I had to create a ghost exchange server to allow me to get into ActiveSync to keep it from activating on it's own. I deleted this ghost once I was finished with it.
Any ideas? I'm hoping that a hard reset is a last resort, although I have a system b/u on my SD card, thanks to SPB Backup.
