Palm Released Device Reset App

Newly released *Information copied from http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...vicereset.html

What is the Device Reset Application?

The Device Reset application performs an erase on all the information that has been added to your Treo 700w/wx or 750 smartphone. This functions as much more than a hard reset by formatting the user storage on your smartphone and erasing all third-party applications, personal info, and settings. The Device Reset application should be used to ensure that your data has been deleted from the device:

* Prior to exchanging the device for a replacement.
* Prior to sending it in for a repair.
* Prior to transfer to another party.
* If you simply want to clean out your smartphone so that someone else in your family can use it.

System Requirements

* Treo 700w smartphone running 1.10 Do I need this update?
Return to this page when you have completed the update.
* Palm Treo 700wx
* Palm Treo 750

Installation

1. Download the devicereset.zip file to your PC.
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...evicereset.zip
2. Unzip using a standard decompression utility and place the DeviceReset.exe file into your Treo My Documents folder.
3. Sync to install the application to your smartphone.

NOTE
If you don't have the Treo My Documents folder, open the ActiveSync window, select Tools, select Options, and then check the Files box.

5. Remove the device from the Sync cable and connect to power only
6. Press Start and select Programs.
7. Select File Explorer.
8. Navigate to the My Documents folder and select Device Reset to start the formatting process.
9. When you see a message warning you of what the application does, select Next.
10. Select OK when the next warning message appears.

What to Expect

The process will take several minutes. During this time your smartphone will display this screen:

When completed, the blue Windows Mobile screen will appear. All third-party applications, personal info, and settings that were added to your smartphone have now been deleted.

IMPORTANT
Personal data removal and personal data retention from the memory system is the responsibility of the owner of the Palm device.

If you need to perform this reset again, you will need to repeat the steps issued on this page as the Device Reset application will delete itself upon execution.

Please note that advanced forensic data recovery is a possibility with any consumer device that uses memory storage (laptop computer, handheld, music player). As such, Palm makes no warranty or claims as to the efficacy of the data removal procedures described here. Individual hardware and software conditions may interfere with the procedures described.[/url]

Palm must have many 700wx returns for them to release this dummy version.You really dont need it on your Palm
This reset option Is basically ##786# entered on the treo dialpad.
You then enter your msid number for radio reset.

MSID number? I think you mean MSL, as entering the MSID won't get you anywhere.
