no data = no working apps

i went out of my coverage area today and apparently on the pre if you have no data running you cant even load the help file. I knew that the web os was tied into the web but i didn't realize the whole phone was. The only thing the worked was music pics and doc viewer.This was a huge dissapointmet.

Are the games tied to the web too? this would truly suck.

i actually didn't check since i never downloaded the trial of connect four. But im assuming if help and most of my other apps were then it would of been to.Not that big of a deal though how often are you really roaming

Sodoku worked fine for me offline.

as did the memos app. And the tasks. And the Camera. And the clock and calculator. And speedbrain. And classic. And the contacts app. And the calendar app. (the later 2 couldn't sync but they still functioned)

Why EA chose to make connect4 focus on the web, I don't know. But for the most part the only ones that don't work without a connection are one syo'ud expect to....the web browser, google maps, the craigslist/match.com/wikipedia searches, pandora, etc.

Connect 4 allows multiplayer that's probably why it requires the web. Or maybe it's because EA wants to remote shut it down at any point.
