Looking at getting the Pre

Ok I am in the process of switching over from Verizon to Sprint, I have a Touch Pro 2 (Verizon) so obviously I can't bring that over.. So I am looking to get either the Pre or the Hero, my main concern is that the Pre has a sliding keyboard and since it has moving parts it can break easier.. I am curious what Pre users have to say about it though..

Re: Looking at getting the Pre

well as with all phones that have a slide it will wear out over time..that being said..the pre first run units did have the oreo effect.. but since have had slight revisions. mine after a month or so is perfectly fine..but i like to be extra careful..

as far as the hero most love it,, but looks like a equal amount hate it..dust under the screen, flaky buttons..etc..

the pre has bout the same.. most love it alot hate it.. me personally i love it.. i came over from wm.. diamond tp etc.. and love webos...so easy to get in and get out..and with updates and patches and hopefully a better sdk..things will only get better.

Htc already announced the hero2 next year..

so u can either get a hero and if your not happy return it and get a pre or vice versa..

good luck...

Re: Looking at getting the Pre

The first Pre I got on launch day had issues, oreo and the screen was wobbly etc... I got a refurb 3 weeks ago and this one as of right now has no issues.

My Hero has a sh!tload of dust under the screen. I need to take it back and get a replacement.

Imo the Pre has a better OS, it just works and easy to use.
The only thing better on Android are the Apps.

Re: Looking at getting the Pre

I am actually looking forward to the sliding part, I am just afraid of it.. I had the Touch Pro 2 so I know about the dust under the screen issue and I hate it.

I have to head up to the Sprint store to play around with the Pre to see the WebOS, I have used Android and I like it but there is still a lot missing..

Thanks for the answers

+1. My wife and I both have one and we have had zero problems with the slider. Plus you can also have an on-screen keyboard that is pretty slick too so that you don't have to slide as much.

Carry insurance (good advice with any phone) and you'll be good to go.

late,
Coz

Re: Looking at getting the Pre

Either way I go I will deff get insurance on the line as it has saved me before. I think what I will end up doing is either get the Pre or the Hero and test drive it for a week or two then make my final decision.
