I love muh Sprint. I was a VZW customer for about 8 years or so. Got tired of their janky business practices. Now I am on Sprint SERO and I absolutley love it. Saving myself about 90 bucks a month for the same services.

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

I highly doubt Sprint will go under. Hell, they just aquired Virgin Mobile, why would a failing company buy out another company?

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

Bad business practices. Hell why would a company acquire the outdated iDEN/Nextel network when running a totally different network? That's when the whole downfall started to begin with. Why acquire 60% of an experimental Clear 4G network.. when if they fail you lose even more money? There's a reason why Sprint is doing things like free calls to any mobile phone..because they HAVE to just to stay afloat.

I got word on Friday that they are laying off even more people here with a given last date of 12-15...not much of a notice right before Christmas. Having actually worked for them I can tell you like this.. one of two things will happen with Sprint. They will either get bought out by another company (i'm thinking Google considering they're about to launch their VoIP phones), or they will tank. No matter what they try they are still losing customers by the million every quarter... even after dropping rate plans to almost nothing.

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

If we could all be CEO's

Have you seen their financials, granted their fiscal year doesnt end until dec. 31st, but check them out. You'd be surprised

Sprint:
EBITDA= 6.7 billion
Current Ratio = 1.616

Verizon:
EBITDA= 35.4 billion
Current Ratio = .807

ATT:
EBITDA= 41.27 billion
Current Ratio = .779

Granted ATT and VZW have higher EBITDA's but their current ratios are way lower. Meaning they have a lower asset/liabilities ratio or that Sprint has a lower percentage of their revenues tied up to current liabilities when compared to the other 2.

Check thier comparison with other wireless industries, (I also overlayed the NASDAQ on that chart as well for ya)
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?t=1d&s=S&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=^YHOh900&c=^IXIC

Heres comparing Sprint, VZW, and ATT as well as overlayed with nasdaq:
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=VZ#chart3:symbol=vz;range=1y;compare=t+s +^ixic;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=o n;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined

Now, you cant judge a companies performance by just their EBITDA and current ratios alone, but it gives a good indicator of how they are currently doing. If anyone would like, I can post up some more info on their financials

If you would like to dig into the financials for yourselves heres some links to each companies SEC filings:

Sprint: http://investors.sprint.com/phoenix....149&p=irol-sec

Verizon: http://investor.verizon.com/sec/index.aspx

ATT: http://www.att.com/gen/investor-relations?pid=5691

Take a look at each, then you can make a good decision on which carrier is tanking. Each are suffering through this business cycle trough we are in. Sprint is a LONG WAY from going under IMHO. Their financials look to be in good shape. I own stock in all 3 of these companies to be honest

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

If you own stock in Sprint... like I did, then you know just as well as I do that their stock is practically free right now. Besides, Sprint doesnt list their wireline numbers in their total fiscal dockets and I can guarantee you the numbers are quite a bit lower than what you see here.

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

I do own a few hundred shares of Sprint stock. Granted it is at a very low right now, but alot of tech stocks are low right now. Were just now seeing a rise in durable goods which is good, so hopefully tech stocks will be right behind them. Verizon and ATT are lucky enough they have their conglomorates to help with revenues (their wired landline services) but Sprint doesnt really have those revenue streams.

an SEC filing is an SEC filing. Its hard for companies to "fib" on their annual reports, let alone their quarterlies.

how does tmobil compare?, since they don't do landlines either, they'd be a better comparison

I've been very satisfied with my experience at Sprint, but most people seem to be displeased.

Re: Sprint losses and customer defections continue

Sprint used to suck and they lost tons of customer because of their non existent customer service, but I feel like they are making a turn around.
