http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6BPuKaLel4 I'm undecided on what position i'm going to take on the Touch Pro 2. For those of us in the United States, we're better off waiting until we learn what customizations the cellular carriers will make to these devices, because as history has shown us they can add/remove components seemly at will. Whats funny is that you outlined nearly everything I was thinking, just in inverse.

For me I can only justify the cost if it fills some blanks, or makes my travels lighter. The TP might do that for me, a quick anytime camera (you need a camera less when you decied to bring one then when you forget it at home), a video playback machine (airports, hotel rooms), and a web browser (bringing a laptop into the head is a PITA). I understand it wont do all of these things well, but why go for just a bigger screen if it means sacrifices on many of the other things, video playback is bad already and it will only get worse, battery life will only be worse, web browsing will be marginally better (only marginally), and, well, a toss up on the camera. IMO, a bigger screen is a minor upgrade, kinda like a new grill on a pickup truck. Heck, that might be why its called the Pro2 as opposed to something completely different. Think of this as not a new phone (6mo after the last one was released!?) but as a face lift to a current phone while they ready new ones. Hopefully the face lift included some software as well. I do hope the TP2 comes to sprint though. Because that means the TP might go down in price due to demand dropping as everybody waits on the TP2. BTW, spelling errors are actually copywrite protection . Last edited by Snoman002; 02-16-2009 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
Its a pass for me. I am waiting for some more oomph in the CPU department. Even with all the custom ROMS and other mods my Diamond still feels sluggish. Add a higher res display and the problem is just compounded. I do really like the look of both of them though. Hopefully they have something better planned for the fall. (in the rumored snapgradon variety)

There are quite a few good phones out there. The problem is they are so scattered among the carries the choices are pretty slim on each.

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
As far as the camera goes, I can go without a camera, I hate phone cameras, and if I don't have a digital cam on me to take a pic, I will just not take the pic. When I say I hate them, I really hate them, the quality always sucks so I don't look at the camera much.
Battery life will always suck, and after dealing with the mogul and the TP, im know to be prepared lol. HTC just sucks in that department. The big screen is needed to me because, to me, we are in the time where finger friendly should be everywhere. Thats why I hope WM 6.5 will be available for this. When you are near a Touch HD and a Touch Pro you will see man the screen is just sexy big. You see things better and more. Screen is a big issue to me. I hated the DPAD thing I felt last gen, then someone with a IPHONE comes with a big sexy screen making everything look great pissed me off lol. Also the keyboard is something I look forward to, not to mention that conference call feature, that is sick. so its what ever works for you, but I don't see why some people in here just automatically diss this phone, also I never heard of flash being such a big deal, but I guess it is. I want a TP2 or I may wait and look at the Snagdragon or Toshiba TG01. You are right its more of a face lift, and like I said after this HTC must come harder for me to buy it. |
