Re: Another wm 6.5 Thread
I think it will still be decent they just need to hurry this stuff up. Course they might be going slow because of the economy. They might be laying off workers and also is it really a good time to release a new platform during a time when money's low?

and here: "The layoffs, starting with 1,400 on Thursday, will affect workers in research and development, marketing, sales, finance, legal and corporate affairs, human resources and information technology, and mostly in Redmond, Wash., where the company is based. The cuts are expected to touch virtually every division and include the computer programmers who write code for existing and future applications." http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/200901...arns_microsoft From what I read, that includes the mobile division :/

Re: Another wm 6.5 Thread
WM 6.5 is turning out a little like Skyfire ... lots of hype and sizzle, but very slow to evolve. Of course, the Geeks have little patience for all this ... myself included. Sure hoping something good will come of the new Firefox mobile browser.

Re: Another wm 6.5 Thread
Personally - I really don't get what the hype is all about. Every time I read on one of the RSS feeds how raving cool this new version is supposed to be, I scratch my head and I'm wondering if I'm just not getting it????
The sliding/magnifying bars on the home screen are okay - but not great. The honey-comb arrangement on the app screen makes me crinch: it is butt ugly, unorganized, not much more user friendly than what we have now. If they would just stick with something and make it attractive and WORKING!!! Take the TF3D: It has the LOOKS. I like it. BUT: if they had only taken it a step further and made it customizable. I want to put what I need on my home screen. I want it scrollable. Why not integrate the expanding bars of 6.5 into that screen? Alt Menus: I want them big, like in 6.5 and customizable. I want to have the features I actually use in the TF3D interface, like Dismiss or Delete as either a soft button option or an alt menu option in my mail tab. Contacts page: I would like to decide what info I want on my contacts page, chose from different layouts (side bar OR photo squares etc), and I want to be able to organize them in tabs for most frequent Family, Business & Friends contacts. Photo tab: I have lots of ideas on this one, but mainly I would like to have tabbed access in the photo view to more than one favorite folder. The list could go on, but my point is, that I feel at a loss why they would abandon development of TF3D, when it could be improved on so greatly!!! Instead of starting from scratch and ironing out the bugs again. |

Re: Another wm 6.5 Thread
This is probably more of an incremental update (hence the .5) to stem the flow. They probably worked on memory management and tweaked under the hood while making it a little more finger friendly now that touch screen phones are all the rage. I wouldn't expect anything drastic until WM7 (which I would love to see even a teaser of at MWC dammit!)
