Not a fair comparison. 4.4 million is an insane amount for only 1 type of iphone.
Exactly my point the whole thing doesnt make any since i dont see it as a victory at all for win mo....how could people.........now if palm Pre can do that that would be something to brag about..

Re: Windows Mobile out sold the iPhone in Q4 2008

That's like saying Honda sold more cars then nissan sold maxima's or sentra's.

They have about a bajillion windows mobile devices. Apple has Iphone 2g and 3g.

As much as I love windows mobile, that's not really much to gloat about.

I will give facts from my dealings with an iphone. The iphone has a larger screen (480 x 320 vs 640 x 480 though), no heating issues, to charging issues, gps don't lag, the battery surprisingly long imo, the phone also insanely responsive with no lag.

Those are facts and while the tp's keyboard and highres screen is too much for me to sacrifice, I'm sure that many would jump ship.

I'm not gonna make this an iphone vs wm thread, I'll let it remain "Honda vs Sentra" thread as Darkflame808 called it. LOL.

What happens when you count the ipod touch? I consider the ipod touch an iphone without the GMS 3G cell radio

It would be a valid comparison, if Nisan only sold Sentras.

I haven't owned one myself but one of my female friends does and i can play with the damn thing whever i want. The touch screen may be larger but are resoulution is higher therefore you see more even though are screens are smaller. Thats fine that it doesn't have heating issues but if your battery is fried than you have to either send your phone in or replace it. I can easily either not play with my phone for 3 hours straight lol or take my battery out when it gets warm. ( Which i never have to do because my phone hasn't had heat issues since the stock rom.) Not to mention my battery last longer than the iphone and i have an extra just in case it does die on me. Can you have an extra battery for your iphone. NO! What charging issues are u reffering to because i am yet to have any. Dude the iPhone doesn't even have real GPS. It uses google maps and my google maps on my pro has street view with no lag. Does the iphone have that??? I didn't think so. Also i use sprint navigation and also have no lag so sorry no problem there either. The UI is definitely more responsive no doubt. But if you flash to Mighty's new rom i see no lag here and if when i did it is very minimal. The iphone wish it could multi-task like my pro does. The iphone is a toy for people who don't know any better. I happen to know better sorry

It has a real GPS and A-GPS. It is a lot better than the GPS in my HTC Touch Pro which lags badly.
It also has google maps with street view (orange icon) and it has google "Earth" which is not available on win mo.

Having said that, I prefer my HTC GPS because I am running Igo8 with a bluetooth Holux receiver. So I dont have to deal with the built in crappy GPS. At least I can tether it to a a bluetooth system. There is no voice turn by turn with the iPhone..

What does the market look like in terms of total handsets owned?

Re: Windows Mobile out sold the iPhone in Q4 2008

Blah..blah.....You all do understand the market dollars that were put forth from Apple correct? So those whom say yes also understand how many units have to be sold to make up that amount? Let me make 20+ plus commercials(some with big name actors), let me make 20+ radio spot ads.......you start to get the picture.

During the Christmas shopping season I saw countless tv spots and heard countless radio spots for the i-phone. I dont remember seeing any for the Touch Pro(just one for purpose). I promise you that if HTC plugged as many times as Apple did they would have sold 2x's the amount of phones to say the least and thats just HTC

Cheers
