Looks like Hell mobility and girlfriend TELUS will be adding HSPA (GSM) coverage before 2010.

I've always pulled for CDMA as it's been the source of my cheap and fast EVDO for the past couple of years. Still, I wonder if standardization is not the way to go for the reason you mentioned. I just wonder if it will matter as they transition to newer tech like Wimax.
